It's the day that JoshLia fans have been waiting for. Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto are finally reuniting for a new project!
The former couple will be top-billing the film, Unhappy For You. Directed by Petersen Vargas (A Very Good Girl), the melo-romance film will be a collaboration film by Star Cinema and VIVA Films.
But even before the full-blown process for their film commenced, Julia and Joshua were intrigued if they were genuinely happy for each other right now. "Can you genuinely tell each other 'I'm happy for you'?" MJ Felipe asked in an "On Cue" episode.
Joshua and Julia were quite taken aback by the question but Julia quickly answered, "I don't know." On the other hand, Joshua claims he can't say for sure since he had no chance to catch up with Julia just yet.
Julia then teasingly told Joshua, "Ako, unhappy ako for you." Laughing, Joshua quipped, "Sige lagay na lang natin sa title ng movie natin."
But as they went on laughing, Julia stressed out, "Unhappy ako for you. Unhappy for you. 'Di ko siya babawiin." Joshua just smiled at her as a response. Currently, the two are in their respective relationships, Joshua with Emilienne Vigier, and Julia with Gerald Anderson.
Emilienne As A Supportive Girlfriend
And although the two haven't really commented about Joshua and Julia's reunion film, Emilienne and Gerald have been very supportive of their partners' showbiz careers. Actually, we've spotted Emilienne leaving *likes* on some of the promotional posts for JoshLia's upcoming film.

With the two celebrities being famous for their heartbreaking love story in the past, their reunion film created a buzz online as it surprised many fans. Apparently, for Joshua and Julia, they saw it coming. In the same "On Cue" episode, the lead stars talked about their thoughts on their upcoming film.
"It was always in my head a possibility," Julia first said. Before she was at a loss for words, she managed to say that they have always remained civil as ex-partners.
But it was not the first time that they worked on a project as exes, except that Unhappy For You's genre is romance. They last worked in the thriller film, Block Z in 2020. Joshua and Julia also starred in the music video of Moira Dela Torre's "Paubaya" in 2019—the same year that they announced their official breakup.
On the other hand, Joshua chose to be as candid as he could get. He disclosed that Julia would be the main reason for him to come back to the silver screen. "Alam kong mangyayari 'to pero may tamang panahon, may tamang story, kasi sabi ko rin hindi ako babalik sa movie if hindi kita kasama," he told Julia.
Touched with Joshua's statement, Julia asked him, "Talaga? Bakit?" Then Joshua honestly answered, "Eh hindi ko kayang mag-isa," implicitly noting that he's not yet ready to fly solo in a movie.

Along with the announcement of their new film, Star Cinema, and Viva Films released a short "Look Test" clip of Joshua and Julia. The clip teased about the feels of their story and how on-point their lines were for the film.
In case you haven't watched it yet, Unhappy For You will revolve around the story of exes Juancho and Zy. The "Look Test" showed the characters' first meeting after their breakup.
Asked if their film would somehow bring back past memories for the ex-couple, Joshua and Julia both agreed that it's inevitable. Joshua explained, "Pero ikaw bilang actor, trabaho mo na i-suppress...imbis na bumalik siya na trauma mo ulit." Joshua revealed that he draws inspiration from his past experiences for his character as Juancho.
Julia quipped, "That's good to know. Kasi kanina parang totoo na eh... woah parang ang sakit. I'm kidding!" referring to their look test where they threw lines at each other. One line from Joshua actually went, "Oo naman! Ang g*go kaya 'nung ginawa mo sa'kin. Ang selfish, ang b*tch!"
Julia echoes Joshua's sentiments toward working in Unhappy For You. "In a sense, siguro may parang, na-feel ko na 'to dati... but at the end of the day, we're not our love story in real life. It's still the story of Juancho and Zy. We're lucky kasi we're coming from a place na parang you know may parallelism siya."
She added, "Pero secret na natin if may memory ka sa'kin na..." jokingly reminding Joshua not to spill too many details about remembering their past through some parts of their film. After all, the exes admitted that they see each other as friends who know everything about each other.
