Julie Anne San Jose expressed her sincerest apologies after a recent performance of hers went viral...for the wrong reasons.

On October 10, 2024, the singer posted her personal statement alluding to her performance at a church that drew flak this week. "I am offering my apologies," she began in her statement uploaded on Facebook and on her Instagram Story.

Julie Anne acknowledged that some of the audience may have felt uncomfortable with her performance. "Even though my only intentions were to share joy and to give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident I was in and with my performance which caused distress. I truly, sincerely apologize. This is a lesson learned and it is assured that it will not be repeated," she wrote.

She furthered to call on the public to move on with compassion. "I am not perfect but please know that I have strong beliefs and my faith is unbreakable and cannot be shaken. I pray that we can all move forward with compassion in our hearts. Thank you."

What's the issue with Julie Anne San Jose's performance at a church?

So...in case you're wondering why the 30-year-old Kapuso star issued a public apology, it was because of her recent performance at a church in Occidental Mindoro. There, she performed ABBA's "Dancing Queen," while wearing an elegant slit gown.

Julie Anne's performance didn't sit well with some devotees because of the song choice and also her outfit, which was deemed to be "inappropriate" inside a church—not to mention that she performed in front of the altar. One online user briefly dissected Julie Anne's act saying it must not be her who's at fault in the incident. "Julie Anne San Jose should know better but hindi lang siya ang nagkamali dito," the post shared on X (formerly Twitter) first read.

The Internet user continued, "Dapat alam niya how to properly dress sa loob ng simbahan...sana she performed songs na appropriate. Meron namang pop songs na babagay sa ganyan eh. Pangalawa, hindi ito impromptu na performanceEvent ito. Wala bang nag-brief sa kanya what to wear, what songs to sing?"
