Sure, Pete Davidson and Kaia Gerber may have started dating, like, yesterday, but that doesn't mean that it's too early for Kaia's parents—Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, in case you didn't know—to set the tone of their relationship. Like any responsible set of parents, they're concerned about their 18-year-old daughter and want her to have a happy and healthy relationship, which is why they're now stepping in to help Pete.
If you're sitting up here thinking Well, why does Pete Davidson need help, he seems fine to me!, please allow me to tell you that no one exactly knows what Pete is going through right now, okay? But eyebrows were raised when he made jokes on Saturday Night Live this past weekend about checking into a rehabilitation center. On the show, Pete jokingly said that he's "going on 'vacation' but insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces. And it costs $100,000 but I still have roommates." This has caused some fans of Pete's to be worried about him ever since.
And now, it looks like Kaia's parents are worried, too. According to an E! source, "It's been a very stressful and concerning few days" for Kaia's family. While it's unclear why they feel the need to intervene, Kaia's parents are trying to be as supportive as possible to Kaia, and by extension, Pete.
"Cindy and Rande wanted to be there for Kaia and supportive of her. They are very involved and loving parents and they would do anything for her," the source explained. "They stepped in to try and guide her and to help Pete through a difficult time" since they know "how troubled he [Pete] is and how much he is struggling."
If that wasn't already heartbreaking enough, it sounds like Cindy and Rande are doing everything in their power to help both Kaia and Pete. "They tried to intervene and offer what they could. It's been upsetting for Kaia and for them to see their daughter dealing with something so serious," the source said. "Their only choice is to support her and help guide her through this. They are just thinking about Pete getting better and nothing beyond that."
