Kathryn Bernardo's career soaring higher than ever! The 28-year-old actress finally bagged her first Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) award and we're all so happy for her!
FAMAS recognized the brightest stars of the Philippine entertainment industry on May 26, 2024. It was the same evening Kathryn received the Best Actress award for her role in the film, A Very Good Girl. It was such a big night for Kathryn because Christopher de Leon and the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos presented her award.
Kathryn received her Best Actress award with so much humility, passion, and gratitude. She thanked the award-giving body for recognizing her dedication to her craft as the lead star in the film, A Very Good Girl.
"Unang-una, and bigat pala ng trophy," she jokingly commented in the beginning of her acceptance speech. "This is my first. Thank you so much po FAMAS." In her acceptance speech, she shared that she never expected anything after deciding to work on the film. "Hindi naman ako nag-e-expect ng any awards or nominations," she said. Tinanggap ko ang proyektong ito dahil nagtiwala ako sa material at naniwala ako sa mga kasama ko," Kath declared.
Seeing that it has been loved by many people, Kathryn revealed that everything feels surreal for her. She continued, "Siguro umaapaw lang po 'yung saya kasi nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon na gumawa ng ganitong klaseng pelikula at minahal at sinuportahan siya ng mga tao. So maraming, maraming salamat po. This movie, A Very Good Girl, is a product of hard work, love, and passion. So, maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta, sa lahat ng nagbigay ng oras, at sa lahat ng nagmahal sa pelikula namin."

Kath also paid homage to everyone who became an inspiration in molding her characters Mercy and Philo from the film. She stated, "Sana sa lahat ng Mercy at Philo sa mundo, sana nabigyan ko kayong lahat ng boses."
The actress did not forget to also acknowledge A Very Good Girl's team, who helped her reach her full potential for the film. "Of course, gusto kong i-share ang award na ito sa lahat ng bumubuo sa A Very Good Girl. My Star Cinema family, my co-actor Ms. Dolly De Leon, our director Petersen Vargas, oh my god, P we did it!" she expressed.
She ended her speech by saying, "Your very good girl is a very happy girl," proclaiming how delighted she is to have received the award after more than a decade of being an actress.
Kathryn Bernardo's rich list of awards
This may be Kathryn's first FAMAS award, but the actress is not a newbie when it comes to winning acting recognitions throughout her career. Just last year, she won the Outstanding Asian Star award at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2023.

It was for her role in the hit TV series, 2 Good 2 Be True. At the Seoul International Drama Awards event, Kathryn received the award and gave the most heartwarming speech in front of an international crowd. She expressed her love for the show, narrating how it was more than a project for her, but more of an advocacy and appreciation for the healthcare industry.
"I fell in love with this project because of its unique storyline. It’s always been more than just about sharing a love story with our audience, but also about spreading awareness on Alzheimer’s Disease and educating people about those who struggle with it and how we can offer them the best support they need," the phenomenal actress stated.
Additionally, she has won several acting awards in the past including, the Box Office Entertainment Awards' "Film Actress of the Year" in 2020 for her blockbuster film Hello, Love, Goodbye. Kath has also long been hailed as the Box Office Queen by the same award-giving body for her contributions to the film industry with her works namely, Barcelona: A Love Untold (2017) and A Very Good Girl (2023.)

Kathryn Bernardo with Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes
Aside from seeing Kath reach another milestone in her career, there were a lot more moments that deserve to be celebrated after the FAMAS night. One of those was Kath's interaction with the real-life celebrity couple and Box Office King and Queen and Kapuso royalties Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
ICYDK, both their movies that are recognized by FAMAs were all produced by Star Cinema. Marian and Dingdong's first Star Cinema film together became the highest-grossing film *worldwide!* Their film, Rewind, garnered P889 million as recorded last January 2024.
In between the ceremony last night, Marian and Dingdong took some snaps together with Kathryn, Alden Richards, and other Kapamilya A-listers, namely Coco Martin and Piolo Pascual. The power this photo holds is insane!

Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards at the FAMAS Awards 2024
Alden was also present for the awards night. Not just to receive an award, but also to also show support for Kathryn! This year, the two have been under the spotlight for their seemingly close friendship. Netizens have been talking about them possibly dating after Kathryn left her 11-year relationship.
The two are intrigued about their real status, but Kath and Alden remain calm and silent amid everything. After all, they have already admitted that they are friends; and Alden wants to keep things personal with Kathryn. "What you see is what you get," he once said in an interview.
Last night, some KathDen (their love team name) fans were rejoicing on social media after a video capturing a sweet moment between the two rapidly circulated online. In the video, Kathryn and Alden were sitting next to each other backstage, while waiting for the announcement of the Best Actress award.
No one could hear or understand what they were talking about but the fans felt the said ~sweetness~ between them. The two are set to return as Ethan and Joy in the sequel of Hello, Love, Goodbye.
