The pandemic has affected sooo many businesses because of the quarantine, and actress, vlogger, and celebrity entrepreneur Kris Bernal knows just how big that impact is. In an interview during Preview's virtual 25th-anniversary celebration, Kris shared that although she's developed new skills during the pandemic when it comes to household chores (such as doing her own laundry and bathing her dogs), she's been suuuper busy running her two businesses: Korean barbecue restaurant House Of Gogi and makeup brand SHE Cosmetics.
"Good thing we didn't close. Kahit nagkaroon ng lockdown kasi, nagpapasweldo pa rin ako sa mga staff ko," Kris shared about House Of Gogi. "We just have to follow the safety measures. So medyo extra expenses siya sa akin. Kasi may mga barriers na kami. We also added a mart, there's a part in the restaurant na Gogi Mart. We sell different new norm essentials like face masks. Kasi kailangan ko mag-isip ng other ways to make more money. And you know naman, people won't eat samgyupsal every day. Pero araw-araw nag fa-face mask yung mga tao. Aside from new norm essentials, may Korean goods na rin kami, para na akong grocery! So parang naging all-in-one na siya."
For SHE Cosmetics, Kris shares that she also had to think of new ways to market her products online. It was a "struggle" to sell makeup during a time when everyone is required to wear face masks.
Earlier this year, Kris opened up about receiving body-shaming comments on social media. When asked about how she handles negative messages like these, Kris said: "Siguro through the years na rin na ang dami kong natatanggap na body-shaming comments, I have come to the point na na-accept ko na who I am. Na I'm really like this and talagang I love fitness and I'm after the health benefits of exercising...The first person I go to when I receive these [comments]...actually, it's God e. I see my value, I see my worth from God but not from other people na. Doon ko rin tinanggap yung sarili ko, na ganito ako ginawa ni Lord so mamahalin ko siya."
