Lee Min Ho just got back from completing mandatory military service, and he's been pretty active on Instagram, posting photos of his dog Choco and biking around the countryside:
Before leaving for the military, Min Ho's last drama was Legend Of The Blue Sea (2016 to 2017), which tells the story of a mermaid (Jun Ji Hyun) who travels across the ocean to find a con artist.
We've been on a Min Ho hiatus for two years now, but never fear: He's starring in a new drama soon! According to the production company Hwa&Dam Pictures, Min Ho will be working with screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, who also wrote The Heirs (2013). It's going to be called The King: The Eternal Monarch, and he will, of course, star as the male lead!
So, what's it about? The King: The Eternal Monarch is a drama that will tackle the concept of "parallel worlds." In one world, the emperor of the Korean empire seeks to keep the country's doors closed from outsiders (yes to seeing Min Ho in the traditional red hanbok for kings!). In another world, a detective of the Republic of Korea is driven to protect the people he loves.
The drama will begin filming later in 2019 and is set to air during the first half of 2020. The company says that we can expect a more mature Min Ho in the new drama.
We've still got so many questions left unanswered: Who's going to be his new leading lady? Will Choco be part of it? Guess we'll have to wait for more updates!
In the meantime, please enjoy this adorable video of him pushing his hair back:
