In an Inquirer.net report, the House of Representatives released documents stating that Arjo Atayde has been given travel authority to attend the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland as the vice-chairperson of the Special Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts this August 2023.
Inquirer.net also reported that no government funds will be used to finance Arjo's official trip to Europe according the House secretary general Reginald Velasco's message to Inquirer.

Maine Mendoza clarified in a tweet that the Inquirer.net report is still "misleading and lacking context." The actress-host pointed out that there are two kinds of “official” travels which should be mentioned in the quoted article.
Maine emphasized in her updated tweet that their honeymoon will not be government-funded. "I will probably be asked to delete this again but I shall say it again one last time, EVERYTHING is at PERSONAL EXPENSE. 100%. No government funds will be used. Hope you can insert that somewhere in your article. Salamat," the newlywed actress posted.
As of writing, Inquirer.net stands by their story, saying that their report was based on documents obtained from reliable sources.

Days after their Baguio wedding, Maine Mendoza and actor-politician Arjo Atayde are hogging headlines anew, over reports that they will be having a honeymoon in Europe, allegedly alongside a government-funded trip.
"Fake news na naman," said Maine in a post on X (formerly Twitter), while reacting to reports of the supposed overseas honeymoon. Maine eagerly clarified that their personal trips will be out of their own personal expense —and *not* someone else's.
As of writing, the article stated that the couple's Europe trip is reportedly part of Arjo's official trip as vice-chairperson of the Special Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts in the Congress.

The article also mentioned that the fresh-from-the-wedding couple Maine and Arjo will be attending the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, quoting a press release from Arjo's camp. Arjo's reported attendance to the said film festival is due to Richard Somes' 'Topakk' movie where Arjo plays the lead role.
It also noted that Arjo who is working as a congressman will allegedly be working remotely from August 5 to 27, 2023 in lieu of their Europe trip. The write-up stated that one of Arjo's tasks during their trip will be to visit the Filipino communities in Italy and Greece.
Although Maine pointed out that their personal trips will be at their own expense, neither Maine nor Arjo denied that their honeymoon will be in Europe.
This is not the first time that Maine directly refuted information surrounding their relationship. Almost a month before their July 28 wedding, the actress-host strongly denied news that their wedding was to be televised. She emphasized back then that she's the last person to "publicize a personal affair."
Maine and Arjo actually had a *super private* wedding in Baguio City, even with a bid to guests not to post snaps of the wedding on the same day.
The two were last spotted in Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez's wedding in Bali, Indonesia. Maine and Maja were actually bridesmaids of each other.
