Maris Racal after her cheating controversy
Over the years, Maris has become known for her meme-worthy posts and her superb acting class. However, last year, Anthony's ex dropped screenshots accusing Maris and Anthony of cheating.
Days after the screenshots were posted, Maris denied knowing Anthony was still in a relationship with his now-ex. Although she took accountability for it by airing a 14-minute statement, she stressed that she was also a victim of Anthony's lies.
Noting that Anthony had continuously claimed to her that he was already single, Maris said in her statement, "It hurts for me. I asked him, 'When are you going to release a statement that you're not together anymore? Because in the eyes of the public, you were taken. But I know that you're not,' He would tell me. He was waiting for the right moment. I didn't want to be pushy. I didn't want to aggravate things. So I waited and kept quiet."
The controversy cost Maris some of her brand deals and a blow to her reputation as a celebrity. Nonetheless, Maris seems to be slowly bouncing back and pushing through with what she had always been working on—being an actress. "I can assure you, tuloy pa rin ako. Tuloy pa rin ang laban. Magtatrabaho pa rin ako kahit mahirap. Hindi pa rin namamatay 'yung apoy sa puso ko," she declared in her December 2024 statement.
Maris also has a film titled Sunshine which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. It also recently premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
