Maris Racal is back. And she's back with a new song. This comes less than two months after the 27-year-old singer-actress was embroiled in bombshell controversy that stirred the public's reaction for weeks. In early December, Jam Villanueva, the ex-girlfriend of Maris' love team partner Anthony Jennings, shared a series of screenshots allegedly depicting conversations between herself and Anthony, as well as between Anthony and Maris. The posts appeared to suggest a potential romantic involvement between Anthony and Maris.
It's not that Maris took an indefinite hiatus from her showbiz activities. But it was obvious enough that the bubbly and creative Maris was nowhere to be seen for a while on her social media accounts. Tonight though, January 16, 2025, Maris posted, "Hi, I'm back," on her Instagram Stories, while revealing the new song that she had been working on.
In the snaps she shared in a separate IG post, she was holding some kind of poster that had her on the front page of a newspaper—which was literally the case for her a month ago, as she made headlines on various media outlets. The poster had the phrase, "Perpektong Tao."
She wrote more details about her song in her post's caption. She noted that as much as it became an outlet for her, she hoped that people could also connect with it. Maris said, "Writing this song healed me in ways I never thought possible. It was born from a journey through pain, regret, and the courage to seek forgiveness, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can find light. I’m sharing this with the world, hoping it resonates with those who need it most."
When the news about her formerly romantic relationship (through a series of screenshots) broke the Internet, it took a few days for Maris to release her statement about it—garnering mixed reactions. The holidays came and later on the promotions for her and Anthony's upcoming new series, Incognito, pushed through. It was all work for Maris for the past couple of weeks, so her fans and followers actually welcomed her comeback with open arms.
The Internet reacts to Maris Racal's comeback song
Maris' closest friends from the industry like her stylist, Adrianne Concepcion, director Antoinette Jadaone, and her former Can't Buy Me Love co-star Ruffa Gutierrez, all extended their support for Maris. Ruffa, for one, wrote on Maris' upcoming song, "Can't wait," matched with some fire emojis. Direk Tonet said, "Ayan na!!!" in anticipation of Maris' new release.
Then, of course, the Internet won't be last to react to this comeback, or should we call Maris' reputation era as per one follower's comment? Her fans proclaimed how excited and happy they were that Maris was finding the strength to bounce back—despite other people still side-eyeing and scrutinizing Maris for what had happened with Anthony.

A comment read, "Mas malakas ka na ngayon. We love you, Maris." Another read, "Singer-songwriter Maris is making a comeback." ICYDK, Maris has her fair share of released songs like "Ate, Sandali," "Pumila Ka," etc.
Maris' new song will be released on January 17, 2025.
