We're all for sisterly bond, especially when it's between Maxene Magalona and Saab Magalona. Just today, we witnessed the strong connection between the sisters, which the social media realm rarely sees.
For a "flashback Friday" entry, Maxene posted a throwback pic with Saab and their elder sister, Unna Fernando-Lu. Maxene began her post with the quote, "'Because angels are sometimes busy elsewhere, God created sisters like you.' — Sal Williams."
Then came Maxene's short but sweet message for both Saab and Unna. The 37-year-old actress expressed, "To my dear sisters @unnie_sushi and @saabmagalona, I love and honor you. Thank you for being my safe space and guiding light." Super simple yet it speaks to how close their bond is!
ICYDK, Unna is Pia Magalona's firstborn daughter. Maxene is Pia's eldest daughter with the late Francis Magalona. Saab was born in 1988—exactly two years after Maxene. Yes, Saab and Maxene share the same birthday!
Of course, Maxene's post didn't go unappreciated. Saab made sure to comment as soon as it was posted with three endearing emojis that included the kilig and heart emoji! Maxene also liked Saab's comment.
Saab Magalona and Maxene Magalona's sisterhood
Last March 2024, Saab and Maxene were spotted together in public to commemorate the death anniversary of their father, Francis Magalona. It's been a while since they were seen together in public. Online, people expressed their happiness after seeing them in one frame. Most of the comments were variations of "So happy to see Maxene and Saab together!"
In the past, there have been speculations about their relationship and hints that there was a rift between the two of them. Fans also noticed that they weren't following each other on Instagram. (You know how Internet sleuths are.) At present, Saab and Maxene are now following each other on Instagram.
A couple of cryptic posts in the past have actually fueled speculations about the seemingly sour relationship of the Magalona sisters. But it was in 2021 when speculations somewhat died down after Maxene greeted Saab for their birthday.
"Sisters don't need daily conversations. They don't always need to be together. As long as they live in each other’s hearts. Happy birthday, @saabmagalona! This is my soul honoring yours God bless you always," Maxene wrote in her post.
Followers were delighted to see Maxene compose a sweet message for her sister on social media. However, one commenter made a rude remark against Saab, who did not publicly respond to Maxene's IG post.
"Matuto ka magpakumbaba at magpatawad sa ate mo. Bakit? Ikaw lang ba may pinagdadaanan? 'Yung ate mo ba wala?" the netizen wrote.
Saab shared the comment on her Instagram Stories, along with proof that she and Maxene are on good terms—and that their sisterhood does not always have to be publicized on social media. "When they think they know better," Saab captioned her IG story.
Maxene has been enjoying her travels recently in El Nido and Boracay. (Her beach pics are giving us major FOMO.) At the same time, Saab has been busy with her family life—we're big fans of Pancho and Vito!—and businesses—she co-owns Puddy Rock Studio and Linya-Linya with her husband, Jim Bacarro.
