Maymay Entrata is rising above life's challenges with grace and resilience. She's poised to be one of the leading ladies of her generation. And though she's not focused on acting these days, she continues to reap the rewards of the success she's been working hard on for years. And through it all, Maymay stays on everyone's radar—not just for herself but for the ones she holds dearest: her family.
Recently, Maymay finally opened up about her current life situation. It might have been a secret to many, but for the past few years, Maymay has been spending time with her mom and grandmother, who are both battling serious illnesses.
"Mama Ludy, nasa Cagayan de Oro siya ngayon. Yung treatment niya tuloy-tuloy pa rin for dialysis. Tapos, tsaka yung nanay ko rin. Sabay sila, pero mas malubha lang yung sa nanay ko," Maymay disclosed in a Star Magic Spotlight press conference.
Maymay admitted that her previous trips to Japan weren't actually for leisure, but were all for her mom who was residing there at the time. "Yung nanay ko, matagal nang may cancer. Almost two years na. At kaya pabalik-balik ako sa Japan. Tapos, ngayon, ang isa na lang sa pinakapinapasalamatan ko ay nakauwi siya two months ago," she shared.
The 27-year-old chose to keep her family's situation under wraps, not because she was ashamed of it but because she didn't want to feel pitied. Now, she's chosen to share it with everyone.
"Isa sa mga pinaka-ayoko talaga mag-open up is ayoko yung parang ano ba, parang may awa kayo sa akin. Pero, I know it will help me din para malaman niyo kung saan ako nanggagaling," she added.
But she's staying positive—looking into the brighter side of life. She's pushing forward in life, with her family, no matter what it takes. "Nandito ako sa point na kung saan, ay hangga't may oras ako na makapiling ko yung dalawang nanay ko, gagawin ko. Palipad-lipad muna ako Cagayan, Japan, pa-ulit-ulit, gagawin ko po. Sobrang mahal na mahal ko sila," she proclaimed.
Maymay Entrata and her many, many wins
Amid everything that's been happening in Maymay's life, she's a strong girlie and has been rising to these challenges. In recent years, Maymay has been laser-focused on her music career. ICYDK, Maymay is one of the leading soloists of her generation. Her hit song? "Amakabogera", which was released in 2021.
After that, Maymay has been performing in various shows, including an online series featured by none other than the GRAMMYs! She was even highlighted on a Spotify billboard in the middle of New York City.
This year, she also released her newest single, "Paradise." And girl, it was such a bop! Maymay might have taken a break from acting, but the risk was worth it since her music career has been flourishing.

And if you haven't gotten wind of it, Maymay has become a modern-day Disney princess. She was chosen to sing the Filipino theme song for Disney's most recent film, Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.

The Cosmopolitan Philippines team had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Maymay about her recent milestone with Disney. Not everyone gets to collaborate with Disney—and get chosen to sing the Filipino version of the Snow White theme song at that!
It was quite an unbelievable moment for Maymay when she first heard that Disney wanted her to translate Snow White's journey into Filipino. "There are more good-looking [people] than me, great singers, but they chose me. I grew up watching Snow White, it was a part of our childhood. When it already sank in, I was so blessed at that time. Who doesn't want to be a princess, anyway?" Maymay told Cosmo in an interview held last March 19, 2025, in Cebu.
"I cried when I [first] heard it," she says, looking back on the story behind her first listen to her Disney song, "Nasaan Ang Hiling." Maymay emphasized how happy she was with the opportunity to tell a story through her music, despite it being something far different from her usual genres.
"This style was far different from my genre," she admitted. "As an artist, I want to try to be versatile. I'm willing to explore different styles. Since I have done acting before, it's easy for me also to connect with the song. It's like storytelling through music."
Aside from being up for the challenge of a new genre in her discography, the 27-year-old artist touches on how Filipino versions of songs like this let the audience connect more to the narrative of the film. "This Filipino version is very close to me because we are Filipinos. Personally, I grew up having a hard time understanding English, so this version would make it easy for people to understand and relate to the movie for our fellow Filipinos," she declared.
Now, Maymay is more open than ever to the possibilities ahead. She's ready to take on new challenges and break even more barriers, despite the hurdles and pressure that often come with success. In a candid moment with Cosmo, she shared, "If walang pressure, we will be like robots—like AI."
For Maymay, pressure isn't something to run from—it's something that fuels her. "I feel pressure, I feel challenged. Big or small, it's okay to feel that way because it pushes us to be better and do our best," she said. It's that kind of mindset that keeps her evolving—and thriving.
Special thanks to the Disney Philippines team.
