Melai Cantiveros, star of Ma'am Chief, was one of the Filipino artists who were invited to the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) held in the Philippine Sports Stadium. From her first appearance on the red carpet to her pre-event interviews, we just know that Melai is the *main character*.
On the red carpet, Ryan Bang kept trolling her and we couldn't help but laugh while we watched it on the livestream! Ryan first called out the Korean press because they weren't taking pics of the Filipino actress. Melai then posed for the camera, and then Ryan said, “Ngayon naman tumingin ka sa likod.” Pinoy humor talaga.
Inside the sports stadium, Wonyoung asked Melai how she felt about being part of the AAA, Melai's answer was something we both expected and didn't expect. She replied that it was like being the first honor at a graduation ceremony, LOL!
"I feel like I am the first honor and valedictorian attending AAA," Melai proudly answered.
Some replies to this tweet said that it was Melai's debut party or she was the main event of the AAA. Melai's charm and personality simply shine wherever she goes.
Another iconic Melai moment was when she said that she wanted to meet NEWJEANS because her daughter loves them. The girls, who were a few seats away from her, were ecstatic hearing Melai's answer. Wonyoung thanked Melai for the interview and she responded with "Kamsamhamnida," which means "thank you" in Korean.
Melai Cantiveros' quotable quotes in her Asia Artist Awards acceptance speech
During her acceptance speech, Melai said quotable quotes that you'll LOL at so much.
"If someone question[s], why I have award [sic] don’t worry I question, too."
"I just receive award [sic] all of my life from my mother and father every time they're angry to [sic] me." ICYDK, "award" in Tagalog slang means you get a scolding from someone.
Melai even said that "God moves in mysterious ways" about her receiving an award. She also started thanking the team behind Ma'am Chief. "To my producer that I cannot believe what food they eat, why they chose me?" she wondered.
"I'm very sorry to the Koreans I acted like this... I'm so overwhelmed," she explained.
She continued to offer her award to her Ma'am Chief co-stars and crew. She also shared that her husband, Jason Francisco, accompanied her at the awards night, together with their daughter Mela. Her youngest daughter Stela stayed behind because she had to take an important exam at school.
