Michelle Vito is one versatile actress. She accepts any role that would further her craft—except if there's a kissing scene. She has a specific rule when accepting projects: There should be no kissing scenes for her character.
In a chat with PEP.ph, she opened up about her acting reservations and her upcoming project with GMA, Lovers/Liars.
Michelle thinks that her role as a single mom in Lovers/Liars is her most mature role up to date. And the first thing she asked about the role was if it involved a kissing scene. "Pini-pitch pa lang sa akin ‘to, ang una ko talagang tinanong, 'May kissing scene?'" she recalled.
But throughout her career as an actress, there was only one time when she had a kissing scene, and it was with her boyfriend Enzo Pineda during their Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit in 2019. However, she revealed that it was something she did not expect.
Michelle disclosed that she only agreed to do a pretend kiss. It was Enzo—who was not her boyfriend yet at the time—who made it a real one. "With Enzo before sa serye, pumayag lang ako na daya. Ang nangyari no’n, tinotoo niya ang kissing scene," the actress said.
In a jest, Michelle said, "Buti na lang, naging kami."
The actress admitted that she understands why there are limited offers for her because of her no-kissing-scene rule. And it's something that does not bother her. Michelle trusts that there will be projects that will allow her to do her job even without a kissing scene.
"Actually, parang nasasabi naman talaga sa akin ng management na nali-limit 'yung mga offers... Kasi hindi maiiwasan na kailangan sa eksena, kailangan sa mga projects. But sa akin, siguro merong project na papayag sila na wala talaga," the Star Magic talent noted.
Whether her rule hinders her from being successful like her peers in the industry, Michelle values the comfort and happiness in the roles she has done more than the fame she'd get from it. She appears to be the kind who's not fixated on becoming famous.
"Parang nando’n nga ako sa utak ko na kahit anong mangyari, hindi. Dahil [lang] gusto ko talagang sumikat o maging famous o marating yung mga narating ng iba? Hindi ako yon, e... Kung hindi ako happy at hindi ako kumportable, hindi ko tatanggapin," Michelle strongly stated.
Does Enzo have anything to do with her no-kissing-scene rule? Michelle responded with, "Nagugulat siya sa akin, kasi siya tumatanggap siya ng bold. Parang iniisip niya na, 'Bakit ba ayaw pumayag ng babaeng ‘to?' Pero, nasanay na siya sa akin."
Michelle explained the awkwardness she feels when it comes to kissing scenes. She also thinks it could be becauseof her conser vative personality. "Actually, baka po iniisip ng mga tao na ayaw ko lang makita ng mga taon na nakikipag-halikan ako on screen. Siguro po, hindi ko maisip 'yung feelings. Personally, hindi ko alam, baka conservative, naiilang," Michelle expressed.
So at this point, the only kissing scene that Michelle would agree to do is if it's with Enzo again."Si Enzo po, payag ako. Kasi, boyfriend ko naman," she claimed.
Michelle and Enzo confirmed their romantic relationship in August 2020. From then on, they refer to each other as "the one!" But they say, they are not rushing to settle down.
