They say that legends aren't born—they're made. And we couldn’t agree more because success doesn't happen in an instant. It's a journey of learning, growth, and always *showing up.* Even the most influential figures and legends aren't perfect. Everyone has their own struggles and imperfections, which is something Miley Cyrus herself believes. As Hannah Montana would say, "Everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days." (IYKYK.)
Recently honored with the title of Disney's youngest legend, Miley Cyrus delivered one of the most powerful reminders that we all need to take to heart. "What I want to say is that legends get scared, too. I'm scared right now," Miley shared.
"But the difference is we do it anyway. And all of you can do that every single day. It's legendary to be afraid and do it anyway," Miley emphasized. Miley shared a heartfelt reflection on her journey with Disney, recalling the early days of auditioning for Disney's Hannah Montana.
"I was just too small and I was too young for the part. A year or more goes by and I forget all about Hannah Montana. But then we get a call and they tell us that they fully casted the show," Miley recalled. "They've already shot a pilot, but the show just isn't working. So they want me to come out to LA and audition in person," she said.
Despite initial doubts about her age and size, Miley's persistence paid off. After sending audition tapes from Nashville and being initially overlooked, she was eventually invited to audition in LA. Miley's passion for the role led to her landing the part.
The experience of filming and stepping into the world of Hannah Montana was transformative for Miley. She fondly remembers her first free concert at Glendale Mall, where, despite starting with an unknown song to the public, she played the character of Hannah Montana with pride.
"Because in reality, I was a little girl in a blonde wig at the mall with a big dream. But in my heart, I was Hannah Montana. And I was so proud to be," Miley stated. Reflecting on how Hannah Montana shaped her career, Miley expressed deep gratitude for the role and the fans who supported her journey, celebrating the lasting impact of her Disney experience.
"I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana because she made Miley in so many ways. This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans. And to everyone who has made my dream a reality," Miley expressed.
Miley Cyrus' Journey To Becoming A Legend
Miley's career has been marked by dramatic highs and lows. Her transition into adulthood was far from smooth. Her 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke, where she wore a flesh-colored latex outfit drew outrage. Critics blasted her for being overly sexualized and inappropriate, contrast to her previous role as a family-friendly figure.
In her personal life, Miley encountered significant challenges as well. Her relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth, which began in 2009, was a roller-coaster of breakups and reconciliations. They married in December 2018, but their marriage ended in August 2019, with their divorce finalized in January 2020.

Despite enduring criticism for being "too much"—too wild, too liberated, and too provocative—Miley's resilience in the face of public scrutiny and personal trials has earned her respect. Her commitment to authenticity, her openness about her sexuality, and her willingness to challenge societal norms have often drawn criticism but also highlighted her true self.
Reflecting on her journey as she receives the legendary award, Miley stated that "there is no such thing as failure when you try. That's the only way you lose. The way to win is to try."
