The Miss Universe organization has introduced another era to pageant fans and beauty queens. Along with hailing the new Miss Universe queen, the organization also crowned four more beauty queens as their "continental queens"—and one of them is our very own Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo.
The 73rd Miss Universe competition successfully concluded on November 17, 2024, in Mexico. With over 120 candidates who participated, the global pageant narrowed down the list to four continental queens. This is different from the four other beauty queens hailed as runners-up in the main competition.
Despite not making it to the Top 12 finalists, Chelsea won't be coming back to the Philippines empty-handed. The 25-year-old beauty queen was hailed as the first-ever Miss Universe Asia 2024. Alongside her, Miss Finland Matilda Wirtavuori bagged the Miss Universe Europe and the Middle East, while Miss Peru Tatiana Calmell is the continental queen for the Americas. Miss Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina, who was also the first runner-up in the competition, was given the title Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.
The new queens were announced and crowned in a press conference set up after the main program where Miss Denmark Victoria Kjær was crowned Miss Universe 2024.

What are 'Continental Queens' in Miss Universe?
We got a little too curious about the "continental queens." Reportedly, it was the first time that the Miss Universe organization has introduced these titles. According to reports, it was first mentioned during the launch of Miss Universe 2024 earlier this year.
During the announcement of the winners, it was explained that the continental queens would be traveling the world together to celebrate and represent diversity across the world. Although, it was not actually clear if the continental queens were selected prior to the coronation night.
As announced, together with Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær, they will be visiting India, South Africa, Thailand, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Argentina, Morocco, and more regions!
