The pageant world just got a splash of body positivity with the crowning of Jane Dipika Garrett as Miss Universe Nepal. While the norm often emphasized conventional beauty, Garrett strutted onto the stage, embraced her curves, and made history as the first-ever curvy queen of the South Asian nation.
The 22-year-old nurse and business developer captivated judges and audiences alike with her confidence, charisma, and advocacy for body positivity, mental health, and hormonal issues.
During the preliminary interviews, Jane boldly declared, "I am here to represent women who are curvy, who struggle with weight gain, who struggle with hormonal issues, and I believe there is not only one type of beauty standard. Every single woman is beautiful just as she is."
But her sassy statements didn't end there! We absolutely loved her winning answer during the final Q&A round.
When asked about success, Garrett had everyone snapping their fingers. “For me, standing on this stage and speaking my truth is success.”
“If you would have seen me a few years ago, I was quiet, I was insecure. I had low self-esteem, I did not love myself. But I am here today, standing strong and bold. I love myself, I forgive myself. All the shame is gone, that is success to me. And I encourage all of you to look at yourselves, to believe in yourselves and that is how you will have success as well,” she added.
She took home the crown, and rightfully so! As she prepares to represent Nepal at the 72nd Miss Universe competition in El Salvador, Jane will use her platform to inspire women worldwide to embrace their bodies, be confident, and celebrate their unique beauty.
She's a walking, talking embodiment of body positivity, and she's set to turn the global stage into her own personal runway of self-love. You go, girl!
