Miss World Philippines Assures Tracy Perez Is COVID Negative As Miss World Postpones Finale

ICYDK, the finale of the Miss World pageant, which was slated on December 16 in Puerto Rico, has been postponed to a later date as several Miss World contestants and staff tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement from Miss World, the coronation night will be held within the next 90 days but did not indicate where the pageant will take place. A part of the announcement reads, "As of yesterday, additional safety measures were implemented in the best interest of the contestants, production team, and spectators, understanding the event increased risks on the stage and in the dressing room. However, after additional positive cases were confirmed this morning after consulting with health officials and experts, the postponement decision was made."

Following the announcement by Miss World, the Miss World Philippines Organization assured local pageant fans that the country's representative, Tracy Perez, tested negative for COVID-19. 

Miss World Philippines Organization National Director, Arnold L. Vegafria said in a statement, "We would like to reassure local pageant fans that our official candidate, Ms. Tracy Maureen Perez has tested negative and is taking all precautionary measures to ensure her safety and well-being. Amid the unexpected turn of events, she continues to uphold her promise to do her best to bring home the crown."

According to a report, Tracy is among the frontrunners of the pageant and she even made it to the top five contestants of the pageant's "Beauty With A Purpose" challenge. Tracy is hoping to secure the Philippines' second Miss World win following Megan Young's coronation in 2013.
