During Netflix's recent virtual press conference, we got to hear from the creators of the series, Alex Pina, Esther Martínez Lobato, and Jesus Colmenar, along with cast members Ursula Corberó (Tokyo), Álvaro Morte (The Professor), Miguel Herrán (Rio), and Jaime Lorente (Denver) to name a few. Keep reading as they share what their experiences have been like throughout the show's journey.

Here's what the cast and creators have to say about Money Heist Part 5 Volume 2.

  1. Expect this final volume to be more ~emotional~.

Alex: "[This volume is going to be] way more emotional. The first volume was emotional but the second volume is where we linked everyone together. Also, we went backwards, forward. We put all the pieces of the puzzle together and we've dded some emotional parts to the character, somehow closing the circle of who those characters are, and giving the answers to help understand the whole universe of Money Heist. I think from a narrative perspective, when we started to write this volume, we saw that there were way many more things than the time we had to elaborate on them, and there were some twists and turns that we had to compress from a sentimental standpoint. So this is a very balanced installment. It's the one that’s been harder to write. And during the process, elaborating on all the plot, I think it’s [the] more exciting one."

Esther: "The fifth season, volume 1 and 2, have this watershed moment. It's a ticking bomb really that changes the show radically and it does veer toward the end—the end of the life of these characters who have lived with their fans around the world. So these last chapters pay homage to all of them. The structure and the content are very interesting and also, it pays homage to all these characters and they all find room in this final volume to show a bit of their heart and their soul. And they're all super super exciting. I'm sure your cardiologist will be happy to see less action."

  2. Producer and director Jesus Colmenar says that the second volume is "a very special one, and different to what we've done, until now."

Jesus: "I mean you all saw on the first volume of the season it was just pure adrenaline, action loaded, and one of the most brutal experiences of both for the cast and the crew. It was complicated and well we generated that climax. And now, this is a more emotional season, or volume, and [even if] I think it's the end of the story, [it's] full of adrenaline still, and with unexpected twists and turns. I think it has a different pace. It's not such a warlike confrontation, but I mean it's a serious [one], until the end, until the last episode."

  3. Alvaro Morte's favorite trait about The Professor is his humanity.
    Alvaro:
"Something I really really liked about the professor is when he shows his humanity, when he shows that he's humane. 'Cause sometimes you think he's a marvelous robot, but then there are other times when I [interpret] him and I'm able to connect to that humane side of him, I love that. And that requires making mistakes. The professor is not perfect. Those cracks in the character are the ones that I'm more excited about."

  4. The cast and creators believe that themes such as family, love, brotherhood, and sisterhood are what make the show internationally acclaimed.

Ursula: "I think each one of us has a different theory or assumption [as to why this show has such a huge fandom from all over the world]. But I think there's something going on between the characters and it has a lot to do with family, love, brotherhood, [and] sisterhood. There are different elements in the show that are universal, very relatable, and that talks about things beyond borders we could say."

Alex: "I would go along much the same lines as Tokyo: The mix of human quality and adrenaline create this emotional bond [and] at the same time it's massively entertaining."

  5. Alvaro's last shooting day was quite memorable.

Alvaro: "I must say that my last shooting day was beautiful. In this type of shooting there are different type of teams and so on. I actually finished shooting with the same team that was shooting with me the very first day so it was beautiful. I wasn't by myself. It was very emotional, I was bawling. The truth is that I was very calm when it all ended, but it was very very hard to bid farewell. I've experienced it all with a lot of calm. I've enjoyed it, and I've had a lot of fun."

  6. Belen Cuesta (Manila) admitted that coming into Money Heist started off as a challenging experience.

Belen: "I always say I was the newest one here so I came in not knowing where I was getting into because it was a great challenge, too. I was overwhelmed with how things were being made [and] with how they were shooting. But I’m fortunate to have amazing colleagues helping me all the time. I take this as my fondest memory in my career and my life."

  7. Miguel Herran is extremely grateful for the international recognition that Money Heist has gained.
Miguel: "It has been a tough show for all of us who have been there. There was a great effort behind [it] and we have been rewarded, of course. This show has given me a lot. It has opened doors. It has been like a showcase for the international arena and that's the greatest gift. Also, I have the greatest colleagues and people [who] will be dear to me forever. And yes, I take all the good things with me. We started with a small show on national television. We’ve received so much and I can only be thankful."
