Over the years, I have seen how K-pop fans show their love for their bias groups: From burning their songs on a CD to streaming their singles on Spotify, it's amazing to see how fangirling has evolved. But if there's one thing that has remained consistent, that would be the social media platform Twitter. It's still where fans connect to their faves, release their ~feels~,~ talk with their moots, and trend topics (like birthday and comeback hashtags!).
In a recent study by Twitter, it was revealed that K-pop continues to dominate conversations across the world. Despite the current situation, fans are still highly active on this platform. In fact, there were 7.5 billion K-pop-related tweets from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, breaking Twitter's annual record once again. Daebak.
When it comes to the countries with the highest number of K-pop-related tweets, Indonesia tops the list. It's followed by the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, and the United States.
As for the countries with the most number of K-pop fans on Twitter, the top five are Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, and the United States. It's also worth mentioning that Peru and Colombia are on the list where K-pop continues to grow.
