Following the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board's (MTRCB) final decision on It's Showtime's case, ABS-CBN declared that it is actively looking for "remedies and options" to go around the noontime show's upcoming suspension.
"We have received the decision of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board denying our Motion for Reconsideration regarding "It's Showtime" and are currently exploring all our remedies and options," said ABS-CBN in a statement on September 28, Thursday.
Staying as positive as they could, ABS-CBN declared that the show would remain on-air and there are not mentioned dates for the start of their suspension. The company also expressed its gratitude to its audience, the madlang people, for the "unwavering love and support" amid their trial.
MTRCB's final decision came nearly three weeks after their first ruling on It's Showtime's case ordering the show to go off-air for 12 days.
It has elaborated in its resolution that the noontime show violated Chapter IV Section 2 (b) (1) of the 2004 Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Presidential Decree No. 1986.
Meanwhile, during the September 27 hearing for the regulatory board's 2024 budget, its chairperson Lala Sotto has touched on their current hurdle with It's Showtime.
"There are also a lot of people suggesting to cancel the show. We consider other peoples' comments too," Lala told Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
"There are also a lot saying that the show should be canceled or that the number of days should be extended," she added.
The ruling was triggered by the noontime show's viral July 25, 2023 'Isip Bata' segment where hosts and partners Vice Ganda, and Ion Perez allegedly "acted indecently" in the presence of children.
The MTRCB claimed in their official statement that this is not the first time that the noontime show was suspended due to "multiple complaints."
On September 28, in what seemed to be a show of force before the MTRCB's final decision, both ABS-CBN and GMA executives like Cory Vidanes and Annette Gozon Valdes made their appearance on It's Showtime.
