It's already May, and most of us are still under some form of community quarantine. While we're getting used to the "new normal" that is staying home, here's what's new on Netflix this month:
1. Hollywood (May 1)
Set in post-World War II Hollywood, this series follows several actors and filmmakers who try to make a difference in the industry. Darren Chris plays first-time director Raymond Ainsley, who is half-Filipino.
2. The Half Of It (May 1)
A shy student named Ellie Chu is hired by a school jock to "make him sound smart" and help him win over popular girl Aster Flores. As we see in the trailer, things get complicated when Ellie finds herself falling for Aster as well!
3. The Godfather I, II, and III (May 1)
In case you haven't watched this classic movie series yet, immerse yourself in the *dramatic* world of the powerful Italian-American Corleone crime family in this adaptation of Mario Puzo's novel.
4. Dead To Me: Season 2 (May 8)
Netflix writes that this season "picks up in the aftermath of that bloody backyard reveal [and] Jen and Judy struggle to hide a dark secret. With a surprising new visitor in town and Detective Perez hot on their heels, the stakes have never been higher."
5. The Wrong Missy (May 13)
The film's trailer tells us that when Tim Morris meets his dream girl through text, he invites her to his company's retreat…only to find out that she is actually a past blind date.
6. Ben Platt Live From Radio City Music Hall (May 20)
In this Netflix Original documentary, The Politician actor and singer Ben Platt performs in a sold-out concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York!
7. The Lovebirds (May 22)
According to its Netflix description, "a couple in the fast lane to splitsville accidentally careens into a murder, they take off on a wild race to find the killer and clear their names."
8. 12 Monkeys (May 22)
It's the year 2035 and the world's population has been ~devastated~ by a killer virus and humans must live in dank underground communities to survive. In search of a cure, a man named Cole travels to the past to obtain a "pure" virus sample.
9. Mystic Pop-Up Bar (Coming Soon)
Based on a popular webtoon, this drama features "a mysterious late-night food cart run by an equally mysterious woman and her part-timer, where customers—living or dead—are provided a space for respite and counseling through their dreams."
10. Snowpiercer (Coming Soon)
In this futuristic thriller based on Bong Joon Ho's 2013 film of the same name, the world is a frozen wasteland and the remaining human population is forced to live in a giant train "that perpetually circles the globe."
