The LGBTQIA+ community has another (word) war to win, and it's because of Carlos Agassi’s explicit new song Milk Tea. The actor uploaded an official music video for his new song which explicitly talks about a man’s disappointment after finding out that he was attracted to a transwoman.
A part of the lyrics goes: "Venti ang kanyang milk tea. Sa dami ng binibini, nakabingwit ako ng binabae." Backlash welcomed Carlos when he promoted the song on Twitter.
Mela Habijan, a Cosmopolitan Philippines Women of Influence 2023 awardee, spoke up about the issue. Mela said that Carlos should work on certain things — like real talent, hard work, charisma, and treating people right — instead of producing songs that degrade others.
Carlos unapologetically responded to Mela’s tweet: "Ako sumikat ikaw laos na di pa sumisikat huhu iyak yarn, hanap kakampi," and when a Twitter user took him to task he then called the feedback, "Crab mentality cyber bullying."
Some netizens have also expressed their dismay over Carlos’ song. Most say the song is transphobic and should not have been produced.
Carlos did not seem disheartened about the flak his song is getting. He has been continuously defending his work, calling it his freedom of expression.
What do you think of Carlos’ new song?
