Nicole Scherzinger is vocal about her Filipino heritage. *Literally.*  Recently, she showed off how her love for karaoke and her award-winning singing voice are two indicators of her Filipino ancestry.

Nicole Scherzinger Is All About Filipino Pride In Latest Karaoke Clip

Nicole shared a clip of her taking over karaoke night while singing along to, of course, "Hush Hush" by The Pussycat Dolls. The TikTok video also flashed different comments from fans and followers that verified Nicole's Filipino descent. "So proud to be a Filipino," declares Nicole at the end. She also captions the post, "Tell me you're a Filipino without telling me you're a Filipino."

In contrast to Nicole's strong sense of Filipino pride, a few comments couldn't help but throw shade toward Shay Mitchell

In July of this year, Shay met social media backlash when she declared she was part Irish and part Spanish, contrary to her previous posts and interviews where she talked about being part Filipino.

Nicole is Filipino on her father's side. Nicole acknowledges this in different features over the years. In a 2010 interview with Cosmopolitan, she talked about how she found strength in her unique background. She said, "I grew up in a small town, Louisville, Kentucky, and there weren't too many Hawaiian-Filipino girls, so I stuck out like a sore thumb. I didn't look like everyone else and didn't feel I belonged... But these things only build character and make you stronger. It taught me to grow into the woman I was to become."

In 2021, she even lent her voice to the album Kaibigan: A Troy Laureta OPM Collective Vol. 1 with her rendition of the song "Pangako."
