Do you remember when netizens called out Olivia Culpo for "lacking energy" during her hosting stint for Miss Universe 2021? There were also many memes created using her double-take reaction before revealing Miss Universe Peru as second runner-up.
On Instagram Stories, Olivia had posted the meme'd photo (her standing onstage reading a cue card looking confused) and wrote, "I don’t think I have ever concentrated so hard on reading in my life than when announcing the winner of Miss Universe this weekend...Apparently, I need to work on my reading face and I’m sorry if this was misinterpreted in any type of way."

Showing that she has a sense of humor, the Miss Universe 2012 titleholder also poked fun at herself by posting several captions of her own using that now-famous photo: "Me reading Twitter this morning," "When they don't have chicken nuggets on the menu," and "When you realize it's not a picture book."

Fast forward to January 5, 2023, and netizens are back at it again with the memes and (sometimes negative) reactions. Variety revealed that Olivia and Emmy award-winning TV personality Jeannie Mai Jenkins have replaced Steve Harvey as hosts for the Miss Universe 2022 coronation night, after the five-year deal with FOX channel expired.
Olivia quickly responded to the online furor by posting a TikTok video on Saturday, January 7. Riding on the "My Heart Will Go On" trend, she wrote her video, "On my way to get Red Bull before hosting Miss Universe because user26263747482 said I need more energy this year." She captioned her post, "#MissUniverse, I'm on my way!" punctuated with an electric plug, battery, and laughing face emojis. "IYKYK [If you know, you know]," she added.

Olivia later reposted the same video on Instagram and said, "Been practicing screaming all week and not squinting when I read !!!!!! See you next week @missuniverse I can’t wait"
ICYMI, Olivia also shared several throwback photos in a carousel post on December 20, 2022, celebrating her 10-year anniversary as a Miss Universe titleholder. "Ten years ago today. I can’t tell if this makes me old now or a baby back then. here’s a little trip down memory lane. Don’t mind the spam I know this is a lot of pics eeek but I want to be able to look back at these memories here in 10 more years."
The Miss Universe 2022 will be held on January 14 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. More than 85 candidates, including our very own Philippine bet Celeste Cortesi, will compete for the most-coveted pageant crown. Filipino pageant fans can watch it streamed live on A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC streams starting 9 a.m. on Sunday, January 15.
