Attention, everyone! Get your wallets ready, because Olivia Rodrigo recently revealed that she's *interested* in touring the Philippines soon (!!!).
The 20-year-old pop star, who achieved further popularity thanks to her debut single "drivers license," divulged in her recent Rolling Stones interview that she has plans to visit the country, and also noted that she thinks Pinoys are super friendly. "People there are so welcoming and hospitable and awesome," she shared.
She added: "Filipino people ride for other Filipino people."
ICYDK, Olivia is actually half Filipino! She was born and raised in California by a Filipino father and a mother with German and Irish ancestry. It's no surprise that the 20-year-old singer is making plans to tour the country at some point as she has always been super ~vocal~ about her heritage.
In a video by Disney Channel for Asian Pacific Heritage Month last 2017, Olivia shared more about her heritage. "Some traditions that have carried over to my generation... we actually make Filipino food. My great-grandpa had a garden, and he was also a really good cook, so he'd make lumpia... which they're kinda like Filipino egg rolls and they're really yummy."
In 2018, she also divulged more about her Filipino childhood in an interview with the Center For Asian American Media. "My dad grew up in a house where they were always making Filipino food, his grandpa always spoke Tagalog. All of those traditions have trickled down to our generation. Every Thanksgiving we have lumpia, and things like that," she shared.
Looks like we'll be getting an announcement for a Manila stop in her GUTS world tour soon—BRB, saving up!
