Patrick Garcia is all about becoming the best dad to his kids.

Patrick, who grew up making a living as a child star, talked about his current life as a husband to Nikka Garcia and a father to four kids. Although he has not signed on to new acting projects recently, Patrick and his family have never left the limelight.

The Garcia family share moments of their life on their YouTube channel. But it was in an interview with Toni Gonzaga that Patrick bared some intimate details about fatherhood.

He strongly believes that fatherhood entails the duty of setting a good example for his children, especially for his daughters. With that said, he's aiming to set the bar high when it comes to his kids' *standards in men.* How? By setting a good example with how he treats them.

"Usually kasi girls, you're more overprotective or protective of them when it comes to love and relationships when they grow older. And if I'm gonna be their benchmark for choosing a guy, I want to set the bar high in terms of how I treat them," he told Toni in the interview.

Patrick added, "They're sponges so whatever they see, they copy, even the bad things sometimes so you have to be careful." The former child actor also noted that he would like his kids to build their faith and love for the Lord through him as an example.

Back then, controversy surrounded Patrick and Jennylyn's son, Alex Jazz, especially when the actor allegedly denied that Jazz was his. Earlier reports in 2013 also stated that Patrick was initially not allowed to see his son and was not on speaking terms with Jennylyn.

"Hopeful [ako], yeah. Ayaw ko namang mag-away eh. I would love to be with my son and I want him to grow up knowing me. I want to be there every step of the way," he said in a report by ABS-CBN News.

Apparently, netizens never forget. Some of them even mentioned the controversy saying, "I hope you make things right also kay Jazz. Na-trauma si Jen sa pagbubuntis sa panganay mo. Yet no mention."

Patrick Garcia on handling bashers

During Patrick's interview, he also talked about the worst thing he experienced while in showbiz. For him, it was the lack of privacy, though he eventually got used to it.

Throughout his career and with social media nowadays, Patrick might have experienced all kinds of intriguing remarks. But all he did was ignore and continue moving forward with his life.

"For me, what matters with the truth is the people you love and care for know the truth. People who don't really matter, even if you believe the lie, it's okay. Don't really care," Patrick stated.

He believes that any explanation would not work, especially if there are people just out there to get him. "'Pag mag-explain ka, may mga iba pa rin diyan na, who will just bash you regardless if you're correct or not. When it comes to bashing online, 'yung mga nagme-message sa Instagram, never did I react."
