8 Things To Know About Pauline Amelinckx, Miss Supranational PH 2023

It's official: Pauline Amelinckx is Miss Supranational Philippines 2023! The Boholano beauty may not have taken home the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 crown, but she certainly won the hearts of Filipino netizens with her charm, wit, and perseverance. The 27-year-old is set to compete in the international pageant this year, which will be held in Poland.

1. She's a Virgo. 

   Pauline (otherwise known as "Paupau" to her close circle) was born on August 26, 1995 to a Belgian father and a Filipina mother. She grew up in Belgium but she spent most of her summer breaks in the Philippines. In one of her vlogs, she said: "Belgium and Bohol are equally important parts of my childhood."

2. Pauline graduated from Cebu Doctors' University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in international studies majoring in European studies.

3. Before joining Miss Universe Philippines, she worked as a retail and sales consultant for a furniture store. 

4. She's a freediver! 

   Pauline's favorite hobby has led her to become a marine conservation advocate. "I'm so lucky that Bohol is an island province surrounded by a beautiful ocean," she shared in an interview. "I think [the ocean] is also a beautiful thing that connects all Filipinos together."

5. She's an advocate of body positivity, too. 

   The beauty queen is no stranger to body shaming. She has been scrutinized for her weight, which took a toll on her mental health. "Getting thru body-shaming was tough. In many ways, it did affect my mental health and my self/body image. I tried to avoid the comment section every time I would post (which is more tricky than you think) or even not want to post," she wrote in an Instagram post. "Self-worth, self-acceptance, and self-love will always be a continuous process. But that commitment to yourself, that self-love, will allow you to evolve and transform into a stronger individual."

6. She was crowned Miss Bohol in 2017.

   Back in 2017, she competed against Gazini Ganados who won first runner-up. (Gazini was crowned Miss Universe Philippines in 2019.)
