As a king, Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) obviously lives a lavish life, and we couldn't help but be besotted with its many fine details—especially his wardrobe! (How crazy were those diamond-encrusted buttons?) In the first episode, the audience was given a glimpse of Emperor Lee Gon's everyday watch, which timepiece enthusiasts will quickly note as a luxury one. But the lack of details left us wondering: Which brand does it come from?
Well, our question was finally answered in the second episode when Jo Yeong's modern-day counterpart, Jo Eun Seop (played by Woo Do Hwan), spotted the watch on Jeong Tae Eul's (played by Kim Go Eun) desk. "You have good taste," Lee Gon says.
He then goes off to explain how the watch was specially made in honor of his horse Maximus' first victory. This "unique watch" was finally revealed to be the L2.673.4.78.3 from the Swiss watch brand Longines.
L2.673.4.78.3 Master Collection, CHF 3010 (approximately P158,108.46), LONGINES, longines.com
The watch comes from the brand's Master Collection, which was launched in 2005 to celebrate the "classical elegance and excellent quality" that Longines watches are known for. All watches under this line are fitted with self-winding movements.
At first glance, the L2.673.4.78.3 may seem like an ordinary designer timepiece, but it's packed with features that make it both a timeless heirloom and modern wristwatch.
There's the classic brown alligator strap with white stitching and the Arabic numerals surrounding the blued steel hands that create a vintage look. A closer look and you'll see that the dial—encased with sapphire crystal—indicates the date, moon phase, and seconds. No wonder Lee Gon bragged about its accuracy.
"It's the only watch in two worlds," Lee Gon proudly says from behind bars. Well, we hate to burst your bubble, Emperor, because common folk can actually purchase it themselves—that's if they're willing to shell out P158,108.46 a piece.
