Prince Harry, being a member of royalty, could have anything he wants when he travels abroad. And, to an extent, he probably does. He and Meghan Markle weren't staying in eight-bed hostel dorms when they toured Australia last autumn, that's for sure.

But it turns out the Prince is actually not high maintenance at all. In fact, there's only usually one thing on his agenda when he checks into a hotel, and that's whether or not it's environmentally friendly.

In a recent interview, Harry's friend, Argentinian polo player Nacho Figueras described the recent trip to Rome they took together. As Prince Harry checked into the hotel, he wasn't concerned about how nice the view was, or whether there was a soft enough towel dressing gown. Instead, he was concerned about the hotel's use of plastic.

"He was there and we were at the hotel where we spent the night before the game. He talked to a person and said, 'This morning I got my coffee and I saw that you have a plastic thing on the coffee. And then I also sent my shirt and I got my shirt in a big plastic bag'," Nacho revealed.

"That's who he is. That’s who they are," he added, referring to Meghan. "No plastic."

Prince Harry's passion for sustainability is something he's grown up with, with father Prince Charles also being renowned for being eco-friendly.

In a speech in Sydney last October, Harry showed just how much he cares about the environment in a speech delivered at the Australian Geographic Society Awards.

"My father and others have been speaking about the environment for decades — not basing it on fallacy or new-age hypothesis, but rooted in science and facts, and the sobering awareness of our environmental vulnerability," Harry said.

"We must appreciate our planet and what it has to offer. The world we live in cannot be replicated or tamed. It is a wild place where beauty takes time to form, in most cases, thousands of years, and without it, we are nothing."
