Remember when Meghan Markle revealed that Kate Middleton had made her cry during an awkward fight about bridesmaid dresses ahead of the royal wedding? Welp, Prince Harry just went into all kinds of detail in his new book, Spare, and by that I mean he straight-up released the texts (!!!!!) between Kate and Meghan.
According to Harry (via Page Six and the Daily Mail), Kate texted Meghan, “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home.” Meghan then wrote back, “Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8 a.m. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?”
Apparently, Kate shot back, “No, all the dresses need to be remade” and said she talked to her own designer, who agreed.
As a reminder, Meghan was dealing with tons of family drama surrounding her father, Thomas Markle, during this time. Harry says that Meghan even asked Kate if she was aware of the situation, and Kate said she was “well aware, but the dresses. And the wedding is in four days!”
In response, Meghan texted, “Yes, Kate, I know….” and then went on to add, “I’m not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn’t fit, then please take Charlotte to see Ajay. He’s been waiting all day.” Kate then replied with a curt “Fine,” and Harry says he came home to find Meghan crying “on the floor.” Ugh, poor Meghan!
Anyway, Kate ended up coming over with flowers and a card to apologize the next day—which Meghan also confirmed on Oprah back in 2021, saying that Kate “owned it, and she apologized and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing.”
Unfortunately, this was hardly the end of drama and tension in the Sussexes’ relationship with the Waleses (see: literally everything going on right now).
