Rhian Ramos Steals The Show In 'Pulang Araw'
Rhian Plays Mother To Alden Richards And Barbie Forteza
Pulang Araw made its Netflix debut on July 26, 2024. The pilot episode sets the backstory of its two lead characters, Eduardo and Adelina, played by Alden Richards and Barbie Forteza respectively. In this first installment, Pulang Araw follows a long flashback where Eduardo and Adelina recall their childhood and life with their mother Fina Dela Cruz, played by Rhian.
As Fina, Rhian portrays a loving mom despite her tough life. In one scene, it is revealed that Eduardo and Adelina have different fathers. In another, Fina pleads with Eduardo's father for child support. But one scene stands out in the episode. It's when Fina fiercely defends her children from bullies and their parents. With a huge knife in hand, she doesn't back down from her children's tormentors.
Rhian shared a BTS of the said scene on her TikTok and comments on the post reflect the audience's approval of Rhian's acting skills.

On another social media app, X (formerly Twitter), Rhian received praise as well. The hype caused Rhian's name to pop up on the trending column yesterday, July 27, 2024.

Rhian was also humbled by the appreciation she received from Pulang Araw's writer Suzette Doctolero.
Spoiler alert! As much as Rhian is the star of the moment of Pulang Araw, we won't be seeing much of her in the next episodes. Her character dies of tuberculosis at the end of the flashback. Here's to hoping Rhian wows us once again in another project soon!
Pulang Araw focuses on the lives of four Filipinos during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines in the Second World War. The series also stars Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Dennis Trillo.
