Sandara Park—former 2NE1 member, Choc Nut lover, and one of our fave fashion inspos—revealed during her guesting in the Korean variety show Video Star that she used to be embarrassed by her Filipino accent when speaking in English. "Just to let you know, I don't speak English in the 'native' accent because I grew up in the Philippines. The Philippines has an accent. I used to be very embarrassed by my accent," Sandara said, according to translated fan videos.
Sandara shared that her way of thinking changed after an overseas tour as a member of 2NE1! She learned that there were so many English accents out there and that a lot of people actually thought hers was awesome. "Many people told me it was cool and matches me well. I became more confident thanks to them."
She even boldly raised her hand during the show and declared, "Everyone should be proud of their accents!"
Sandara moved to the Philippines when she was just in elementary school and shot to fame as a teen after she joined the talent show Star Circle Quest in 2004! She debuted as a member of K-pop girl group 2NE1 in 2009 and continued her career as an actress, singer, and TV personality after the group disbanded.
