We know you're always looking for new content to binge, so here's a not-so-typical one to try: a concert featuring Broadway's biggest stars!
ICYMI, legendary composer and Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim, whose works include popular musicals such as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, Company, Into The Woods, and West Side Story, turned 90 years old this year. In honor of his birthday, international stars will be coming together for an online concert called Take Me to the World: A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration.
According to Broadway.com, Lea Salonga, who rose to fame in the musical Miss Saigon, will be part of it, along with many big names in the industry such as Lin Manuel Miranda, Ben Platt, Meryl Streep, Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris, and Kristin Chenoweth! They will be performing selected Stephen Sondheim songs (hopefully including "I Feel Pretty", "Send In The Clowns", and "Not While I'm Around").
The free online concert will also serve as a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty). Take Me to the World: A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration, hosted by Raúl Esparza, will air live on Broadway.com and its official YouTube channel on April 26, at 8:00 p.m. EST (8:00 a.m. in the Philippines).
Enjoy!!
