Not quite what we were expecting tbh.

It's been a wild week for Taylor Swift and her fans after she dropped a second surprise lockdown album. Since Evermore was released, fans ~as per usual~ have been going in hard with speculation about the lyrics.

First, people were convinced she married Joe Alwyn in secret, then they were certain she revealed the name of Gigi and Zayn's baby girl, and they also seemingly spotted lots of references to her brief relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston.

Some also believe Evermore is part of an album trilogy, and a third record could soon be on the way. The evidence? Going back to her July Folklore album, fans noticed that the word "Woodvale" is mysteriously written on the upper right-hand corner of the cover artwork.

But, sadly, it's really not quite as exciting as it seems. Taylor recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and was asked to clear up the Woodvale theory. "I tend to be sort of annoyingly secret agent-y about dropping clues and hints and Easter eggs, and it's very annoying," Taylor shared.

"But it's fun for fans, and it's fun for me, because they like to pick up on things, and they'll notice lots of things in music videos or photos or whatever. And then sometimes I take it too far, and I make a mistake."

"When I was making Folklore, I was too afraid to even reveal the title of my album to my closest teammates and management. I didn't tell anybody the album until right before it came out," the singer continued. "And so I came up with a fake code name that had the same amount of letters as Folklore. Chose a random name...chose 'Woodvale.'"

Taylor revealed she made fake album covers with the code name, but then forgot to remove it. "[I] wanted to see how it would look on the album covers, mocked them up, and then decided I don't actually want to have an album title on the album covers. And we forgot to take the fake code name off of one of them."

So that clears that theory up, then.
