What is the film plot The Idea Of You?
Based on the book of the same name written by Robinne Lee, The Idea Of You (or TIOY) "centers on Solène (Anne), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet."

Solène Marchand is a 40-year-old divorced mother who runs an art gallery in Los Angeles. At her ex-husband’s request, she takes their teenage daughter to Coachella, where things take a surprising turn.
Nicholas Galitzine as Hayes Campbell
The frontman of "the hottest boy band on the planet," 24-year-old Hayes Campbell is instantly smitten by Solène, and goes out of his way to pursue her.
Reid Scott was cast as Daniel, Solène's ex-husband who pulls out of his father-daughter Coachella date at the last minute. Meanwhile, Ella Rubin plays Solène's daughter Izzy, who wins the opportunity to meet August Moon at Coachella.
Also part of the cast are Jordan Aaron Hall as Zeke, Annie Mumolo as Tracy, and Perry Mattfeld as Eva.
Completing the fictional band August Moon are Jaiden Anthony as Adrian, Raymond Cham Jr. as Oliver, Viktor White as Simon, and Dakota Adan as Rory.
Is Hayes Campbell in The Idea Of You based on Harry Styles of One Direction?
Both the book and its upcoming movie adaptation received considerable attention from fans, who perceive a likeness to Harry Styles in his One Direction days.
Robinne Lee has also denied the rumor that her book was based on Harry Styles fanfiction. In her 2020 Vogue interview, the author said she made Hayes into her *dream guy*. A mix of "Prince Harry, meets Harry [Styles], plus a couple of ex-boyfriends, a little of her husband, and a dash of Eddie Redmayne."
"This was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles," Lee said in the interview. Rather, it's about "a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself, just at the point that society traditionally writes women off as desirable and viable and whole."
Harry Styles has no direct connection to the movie. However, Carl Folk and Savan Kotecha are credited as the producers and composers for "Dance Before We Walk," a song by August Moon (the fictional band Hayes fronts in the film). The duo previously penned One Direction’s hit single "What Makes You Beautiful."
