When Call Me By Your Name came out in 2017, it felt as though everyone was falling in love for the first time under the warm Italian sun. Actors Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer are two of the reasons behind the film's success, and fans will be happy to hear that they're returning for the Call Me By Your Name sequel titled Find Me.
Call Me By Your Name is an adaptation of author André Aciman's 2007 novel of the same name, and it went on to nab four Oscar nominations and win Best Adapted Screenplay. Chalamet and Hammer will reprise their roles of Elio Perlman and Oliver, respectively. Michael Stuhlbarg, who plays Elio's dad, Professor Samuel Perlman, will also return to play the same role in the sequel. Director Luca Guadagnino, who directed the first film, has been wanting to work on the sequel, and he confirmed it in an interview with Italian newspaper La Republicca. According to Deadline, Guadagnino is one step ahead—he's already read an early copy of Find Me, which was released in October 2019.
Call Me By Your Name follows Elio and Oliver's summer romance, and while we don't know what the movie's sequel holds, we can look to the source material for some hints on what to expect. Find Me shifts the focus to Elio's dad, Samuel Perlman. The professor is taking a trip to Rome to visit his son who is now a classical pianist. On the way there, he meets a young woman who changes his plans and life forever. The novel also sees Elio moving to Paris, while Oliver, now a family man, finds himself wanting to take a trip across the Atlantic.
