The Internet is a place full of varying opinions. But when some claims go out of control, you have to take a stand and make the necessary corrections. Case in point: Vice Ganda's recent discourse with some online users over on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In the recent episode of It's Showtime's Expecially For You, contestant Ky opened up about having a complicated relationship with her family. "Meron akong family, pero I don't feel at home," she began her story.
Ky's statements became a point of discussion for the hosts. After all, being family-oriented is a strong trait in Filipino culture. It's deemed to be ingrained in our personality as Filipinos.
However, only a certain part of Vice's remarks went viral.
Ky actually had a response to Vice's spoken thoughts. She claimed, "Pero minsan po kasi sa ibang family, parang hindi applicable 'yung ganon...parang nas-slow down yung progress mo sa buhay dahil sa kanila. Parang you have to let it go kasi depende rin po sa sitwasyon.
What Vice first said seemed to have been blown out of proportion by some viewers. Someone tweeted saying, "CONFIRMED. Vice supports Angelica's side nga. Im so disappointed in you @vicegandako." The online user tagged Vice, only to be shut down by the celebrity.
Vice directly refuted the online citizen's post with a strong rebuttal. "Ha?!!! Saan galing to?
The unkaboggable star made herself clear. It was never her intention to meddle or to even express any thoughts regarding Carlos Yulo's family issue—which became a public concern after he won gold at the recently held 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Someone argued with Vice that by saying the phrase, "mas mahirap pa yan kesa sa makakuha ng gold sa Olympics," people believed that she was alluding to Carlos' family situation at the moment.
However, what the online user's tweet didn't capture was the second part of Vice's sentiments regarding family ties. At some point during It's Showtime's August 20 episode, Vice expounded on the idea of people cutting ties or setting boundaries from their families. For her, she acknowledges and understands that some people need to do it that way to prioritize their health and mental and emotional wellbeing.
Time-out. Bitaw. Hindi mo puwede ipilit."
Vice Ganda on Carlos Yulo's family situation
Someone uploaded the clip of Vice's explanation. She thanked the uploader and added more insights, addressing peoples' different views on the athlete's family.
"Ayan. Salamat po! I don't think it's wrong to hope for every problematic family to resolve their issues and eventually reconcile.

Vice also addressed the fact that some people jumped to the conclusion that she supports Angelica Yulo's handling of her relationship with her son, Carlos. Someone commented, "The problem kapag clips lang napapanood," referring to how the shortened clips misled some of the people on the internet about Vice's stand.
The celebrity replied, "True.

ICYMI, Carlos' current family situation almost overshadowed the fact that he won two(!!) gold medals at the Olympics, a truly historical feat. This is because some netizens are choosing to instead focus on the public sentiments made by his mother Angelica, discussing his finances and Carlos' relationship with his longtime girlfriend Chloe San Jose.
ICYMI, in an interview uploaded on August 4, Angelica disclosed that Carlos' cash incentives worth P70,000 were given to her after the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships by the organization. She noted that the incentives were sent to her as a parent since Carlos' handlers thought Chloe was a "red flag" in their relationship.
Last August 6th, the double gold medalist shed light on the accusations made by his mother. The amount mentioned was reportedly "hidden" from Carlos. This seemed to be the start of their rift, leading to Carlos putting boundaries between himself and his mother.
This is what the athlete first addressed in his video, arguing that it was not about the monetary amount, but rather that the alleged withdrawal of the cash incentive from his bank was not disclosed to him by his own mother. Moreover, Carlo defended Chloe by saying that her lifestyle is due to the culture she grew up in, since she has been living in Australia for a long time.
