Yep, it's that time of the year again! The Miss Universe 2022 coronation night is all set for January 14, at 7:00 p.m. EST in New Orleans, Louisiana. That means it'll be airing here in the Philippines on Sunday, January 15, in the early morning.
Good news for all Filipino pageant fans: We can watch it live because ABS-CBN will be bringing the event straight to us through A2Z Channel 11, starting at 9 a.m Philippine time. There will also be live telecasts on the Kapamilya Channel, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC. Same-day replays will be available at 10:30 p.m., and replays will also be available on TV5.
25-year-old Celeste Cortesi from Pasay City will be representing the Philippines in the 71st Miss Universe competition. Celeste's official profile on the Miss Universe website describes her as someone who has "embarked on a transformational journey of self-discovery that led to more than just discovering her roots—it gained her the love of an entire nation and a purpose beyond herself."

Celeste is very involved in charity work, also detailed in her Miss U profile: She works with Save the Children Philippines and her primary focus is on curbing hunger and the malnutrition crisis. "It is a cause that is close to her heart, as it reminds her of her mother’s struggles in raising her and her siblings." She also supports MindNation, a mental health and well-being organization, that provides talks, training, and therapy to those that need it. "Cortesi hopes to continue her studies in real estate and to pursue a career in the field. Her biggest dream is to move her mom back to the Philippines and to buy her a house for retirement."
2022's newly-crowned queen will succeed India's Harnaaz Sandhu and will be the first to wear the Mouawad Force for Good Crown, which is a new crown for a new era. To see this year's ~full list~ of candidates, click here.
