International awards are not easy to come by, but Wil Dasovich surely has a spot for one in his mantlepiece. The content creator took to Instagram to announce his latest milestone: winning the “World Vlog Challenge” for his mini-documentary of a trip to the Himalayas.
“We did it!” Wil announced, sharing a clip of his acceptance speech. “I just want to make you all proud and it’s moments like these where I get to represent an entire country that makes me feel like I’m creating an impact.”
He accepted the award with jitters, sharing that making a video that’s both entertaining and impactful is no easy feat. “It’s something I think I and many creators struggle with. Because it’s easy to be entertaining and get a lot of views, and it’s easy to make a piece that’s informative but it’s really difficult to bind those two together. So the amount of work it took to create this vlog was easily more than a month including the two weeks of hiking, the weeks in the editing cave, the weeks of writing, and to receive a recognition like this, it means a lot,” he said.
He added, “This single Nepal video was arguably the most difficult video to produce to date and getting millions of people to watch these carefully crafted mini-documentaries that promote a meaningful cause is the highest accomplishment I can achieve as a content creator. Capture with entertainment (the bait), leave with life lessons and a greater appreciation for life and the beauties that planet Earth beholds. Mission accomplished.”
Wil bested 11 top content creators around the world to covet the award and took home a whopping $100,000 (approximately 5.9 million pesos) cash prize for it.
Congratulations, Wil! What a feat!
