Looks like Yilmaz Bektas is on his way to the Philippines soon—just as his ex-wife Ruffa Gutierrez revealed that he had asked her to marry him again years after they parted ways. In an Instagram post on March 17, Yilmaz wrote, "For public opinion: Regarding the news about me that has been published in the media recently, I would like to say, 'Yes, these news are true. I will be visiting the Philippines soon.'" He even (virtually) signed the statement, as if to indicate that it was really him declaring it.
Ruffa made headlines when she revealed that Yilmaz had once again asked for her hand in marriage. In multiple media reports, the celebrity was asked about Yilmaz calling her "boss" in a previous exchange they had via Instagram. "Kasi ako ang boss niya. Hindi siya makahanap ng isang katulad ko. Hanap siya nang hanap sa buong mundo," Ruffa said in an interview.
She continued, "As a matter of fact, he wanted to propose and get married to me again," she shared. "I thought it was a joke," Ruffa admitted. It's definitely something that would surprise her and the public.
She continued narrating the incident, "Sabi ko, 'Is this a joke?’ 'Sabi niya, 'No, I want to invite you to be in a train with me' and mag-train daw kami all over Europe. So, sabi ko, ‘Totoo ba 'to or baka he's planning my murder on the plane or train?'," Ruffa said.

While Ruffa has maintained a cool and casual tone while sharing details about her conversation with Yilmaz, she made it clear that there are no plans to rekindle their past romance.
When asked if Yilmaz was courting her again, Ruffa responded as per PEP.ph, published as is, "I don't say that he's courting me again. At least, we've come to that decision. And I'm in my life that we can joke and be happy with one another."
Ruffa also revealed that she has not seen Yilmaz in approximately 18 years—the same amount of time since their marriage officially ended. "The last I saw him, I don't know… 18 years ago," the actress noted.
Nonetheless, Ruffa and Yilmaz have built a positive co-parenting setup for their daughters, Lorin and Venice. Ruffa describes their current dynamic as that of "best friends." She adds,"I always wish that he becomes successful in life kasi his success will also be the success of my kids. [...] And I'm just so happy with my daughters because they now have a personal relationship with their dad," she shared, adding that Yilmaz now provides for their daughters' financial needs too.

Ruffa and Yilmaz got married in 2003 and they called it quits after a controversial breakup in 2007. It was one of those celebrity breakups that the nation followed as well. The two announced their separation in a joint statement that read, "Earnest and sincere efforts at saving their marriage have failed. It is to the best interest of Ruffa and Yilmaz, their children, and respective families that such decision to severe marital ties had to be made."
