In a heartfelt chat with his sister-in-law Toni Gonzaga, Mikee Morada looked back on how he and Alex Gonzaga went through a third miscarriage together. The two, who have been married since 2020, have been through a lot already. But through it all, Alex and Mikee tried their best to stay positive and strong for each other.

However, Mikee illustrates that some things don't get any easier, even if you've experienced them multiple times. It was truly a matter of faith and love for the couple.

Mikee Morada reveals Alex Gonzaga's third miscarriage in December 2024

A little over a year after Alex and Mikee shared their second miscarriage, Mikee sat down in an episode of Toni Talks with Toni Gonzaga to share the story behind Alex's heartbreaking third miscarriage.

Mikee said that they had to get a second opinion after their first OB told them the sad news that it was—again—a blighted ovum. This happens when a fertilized egg forms inside the uterus but does not form an embryo. It was the case for Alex's first miscarriage in 2022.

"'Nung nalaman namin na pregnant kami, for the third time, nagpa-check na agad kami sa OB and okay naman. Nag-decide kami na mag-iingat na talaga siya. And then the second week, okay pa 'yung ultrasound. Hanggang 'dun sa third week, sabi sa'min 'nung doctor, 'Naku, wala na namang laman. Blighted ovum ulit."

He continued, "So, talagang bumagsak uli 'yung ano namin. Pero mas kaya pa rin kumpara 'dun sa una. Kasi naka-ilan na kami eh. So, feeling namin, mararamdaman namin 'yung saya 'pag nakarinig na kami ng tibok ng puso o nakakita na kami ng embryo, kasi hindi pa kami umaabot sa punto na 'yon."

The week after they received the news of another blighted ovum for Alex from the first doctor, they decided to consult another doctor. There, they found out that they were indeed pregnant, and the baby's heart was beating.

"Merong bata sa loob, may baby sa loob. Naiyak ako 'nung narinig ko 'yung heartbeat—first time kong nakarinig ng heartbeat," Mikee admitted. Mikee revealed that he took a video of their baby's heartbeat and he had put it on loop for him to listen to it every day.

Unfortunately, it was a momentary light moment for the couple as they discovered that the baby had a weak heartbeat. They did all the tests and procedures needed just so they could help strengthen the baby's heartbeat. "Nalaman namin mababa 'yung heartbeat, 65 lang. So, that same day, pumunta kami sa hospital triny namin habulin, baka ma-save pa 'yung baby. Triny namin lahat. [...] Triny namin i-save."

With high hopes, the couple waited for the final results of whether their baby will survive. But on December 28, 2024, they found out once again, that it was not yet the time for them to be parents. "Nakita na namin 'yung baby, 'yung embryo, pero wala na siyang heartbeat. [...] So, nagkatinginan kami... Si Catherine, sa unang ganyan, strong siya eh. Pero 'nung umuwi kami, 'dun siya nagb-breakdown."

Mikee Morada discloses Alex Gonzaga's struggles in pregnancy

Through the years, Mikee and Alex have tried their best to conceive a child and become a family of three. After their first miscarriage in 2022, they tried in vitro fertilization (IVF) which resulted in a chemical pregnancy for Alex.

Despite everything, they remained hopeful that they would have the chance to become parents. Alex, for one, religiously takes care of her body, with hopes that she will be well-prepared in case they will be blessed with a baby. But for Mikee, one of the hardest things about their pregnancy journey was seeing Alex break down. "Kasi minsan sinisisi niya 'yung sarili niya eh," he noted.

Mikee recalled after they confirmed that their baby lost its heartbeat in December 2024, there was a moment when Alex still asked Mikee if there was even the slightest chance that the baby was still alive. As much as it hurt him, he had to break the news to his wife one last time that they already lost the baby.

"Tapos hindi ko makakalimutan, sabi ng doctor, kailangan na niyang [uminom ng gamot] para mag-bleed na... Tinatanong niya sa akin kung may chance pa ba bago niya inumin. Naaawa ako sa kanya eh. Kasi bago niya [inumin], naghahanap siya ng chance talaga. 'Dun ako medyo na-ano, ang hirap sabihin, pero sinabi ko wala na talaga," Mikee emotionally narrated.

Recently, Alex had an intimate birthday celebration with her family. The actress-vlogger turned 37 this year.
