After months of endless speculation and conspiracy theories, Kate Middleton reveals she is battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. The Princess of Wales released a video statement across the royal family's official channels.

Kate Middleton Reveals True Reason For “Disappearance”

Catherine, Princess of Wales, Is Thankful For The Support

In the two-minute and 14-second video, Kate is casually dressed in a striped sweater, sans all the fashion trappings that come as part of the British Royal Family. Her statement begins immediately with gratitude for the "wonderful messages of support and for your understanding."

She acknowledges her family and medical staff, before going through the timeline of her condition. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Catherine, Princess of Wales, Says “It Has Taken Time To Recover”

Kate made headlines early this year when people realized her last public appearance was on Christmas Day 2023. Reports of her abdominal surgery were soon marred by accusations that involved cheating, wild disappearance scenarios, and various conspiracy theories.

Her statement underscores how she and Prince William took the time to deal with the news, especially on how to explain it to their children. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.”

Kate’s Message To Fellow Cancer Patients

Kate highlights Prince William’s role in her healing. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

She asks for privacy and understanding regarding the matter. “We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Being the true royal that she is, she takes her current struggle as a way to empathize with others. She ends her video statement with a powerful message to other cancer patients, “At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”

A Brief Lookback On The Search For Kate

The first quarter of the year saw TikTok and the rest of social media viciously speculating about Kate. In January, Kensington Royal stated Kate was admitted to a London clinic for abdominal surgery. Shortly after, another statement confirmed that the operation was successful. Photos of Prince William leaving the clinic where Kate was admitted surfaced, and by the end of January Kate was released from the hospital.

Rumors escalated throughout February as Prince William performed his public duties without Princess Kate. The conspiracy theories found fever pitch when William missed the service of Thanksgiving for his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, and dropped out of another royal engagement due to a personal matter.

As Kensington released a photo of her and her children for Mother's Day in March 2024, netizens had even more conspiracy theories. She later apologized for the alleged editing mistakes in a post on X, signed off as “C”.
