On April 2, Tuesday, Korean entertainment news outlet Ten Asia first reported about the couple's broken relationship, mentioning how the two publicly dated for only five weeks.
In Ten Asia's report, the assumed main reason for their breakup was the emotional and mental pain caused by malicious and bad reception to their relationship by some fans. The news outlet also reported how focused and faithful Karina and Jae Wook are to their careers at the moment.
Jae Wook's agency, C-JeS, immediately responded to the report and revealed a breakup reason from the actor. As Soompi translated their statement: "Lee Jae Wook decided on the breakup in order to focus on the project he is currently filming. The two decided to remain as colleagues who support each other. They will each greet [fans] through good activities from their respective positions going forward. Please show lots of warm interest and support."
