Make way for actress Lisa Manobal! Streaming platform Max just shared a glimpse of what more is in store for their viewers. Among those coming in 2025 is a new season of The White Lotus. Now, the show has already seen its fair share of big industry names, (think Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, and Sydney Sweeney just to name a few) but on their upcoming season, they're taking it up a notch. They're bringing the show all the way to Asia this time and adding BLACKPINK's Lisa to the star-studded line up. And in the latest teaser posted by Max, we all got to meet her character, who in her nametag was named Mook.
The White Lotus in Thailand
It can be remembered that the shooting location to the Emmy-winning HBO series was confirmed in February 2024. From their past seasons filmed in Hawaii and Siciliy, this time The White Lotus takes on Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced that the shooting locations would be in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui. At the same time, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, said in a press release, "We are honored to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus."
Meet BLACKPINK Lisa's The White Lotus Character, Mook
Lisa was announced to be joining the ensemble earlier in 2024. It was also confirmed that the Thai star will be credited as Lalisa Manobal, her given name. This stint marks Lisa's acting debut, also making her the second BLACKPINK member cast in an HBO show. She follows Jennie's debut in The Idol.
It just makes perfect sense for this to be her first acting role, because Lisa was actually born in Thailand! Although at present, she is becoming more of a global citizen (the lyrics in her song "Rockstar" lets us in on just how well-traveled she is). In October, Lisa made waves as she opened the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show comeback after its years-long hiatus. The K-pop star donned her own pair of wings as she performed her latest songs, "Moonlit Floor" and "Rockstar."
What we can deduce from watching the trailer is that Lisa's character Mook might be working in the hotel. She was seen wearing a uniform while greeting the guests, "Welcome to the White Lotus in Thailand, ka." Details about her character and storyline have been kept pretty much under wraps (most probably to keep it exciting), but fans have been really excited to see even the smallest clue to who her character could be.
Lisa also shared the teaser on her Instagram stories writing, "Looking forward to 2025 [praying hands emoji]"
There may not be much revealed about Lisa's character just yet, but we're just happy to see her in her first acting role!The White Lotus Season 3 is set to premiere in 2025.
