Here's some heartbreaking news for today: South Korean celebrity couple Jung Ho Yeon and Lee Dong Hwi have called it quits after nine years of dating.
The Korean media outlet, YTN reported today, November 26, 2024, that Ho Yeon and Dong Hwi have ended their romantic relationship and have returned to being just colleagues. ICYDK, the couple was one of the long-lasting celebrity couples that the South Korean entertainment industry has loved throughout the years. The report stated that the two are now focusing on their solo careers.
Dong Hwi's agency, CompanyOn first confirmed the news to Korean outlet, E-Daily. Ho Yeon's agency, Saram Entertainment, echoed CompanyOn's confirmation stating, "It is true that Jung Ho Yeon and Lee Dong Hwi have separated. They decided to remain good colleagues." As for the reason for their split, nothing was mentioned.

ICYDK, Ho Yeon and Dong Hwi began dating in 2015, but they only publicized their relationship in 2016. By 2021, more fans discovered their strong romance back then due to more people came to love and support Ho Yeon. At the time, Ho Yeon made waves for her breakthrough role in the first season of the hit Netflix series, Squid Game.
Since making their relationship public, Ho Yeon and Dong Hwi have been open about it and often expressed how supportive they are of each other. One proof of it was Dong Hwi's proud boyfie moment when Ho Yeon won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series during the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards)!
When Ho Yeon won in February 2022, Dong Hwi shared a photo of his then-girlfriend via Instagram Stories. The photo he posted showed Ho Yeon wearing a really huge gold medal, which was obviously Dong Hwi playfully editing the emoji on her. LOL but sweet!
Dong Hwi was recently cast in the series, Chief Detective 1958. While Ho Yeon actually made her Hollywood debut last month in the Apple TV+ series called Disclaimer. There, she portrayed the role of Jisoo, who was the assistant of Cate Blanchett's character in the show.
