After years of waiting, K-drama stans are in for a treat: True Beauty has finally landed on Netflix screens. The hit show has catapulted onto the Philippines' Top 1 spot since its latest addition to the streaming service, leaving many of us feeling like it's 2020 all over again (the good part!).
Based on the webtoon of the same name, the teen drama follows Lim Ju Kyung (Moon Ga Young), a high school student afflicted by her tormentors due to her so-called "ugliness." When a financial mix-up hits her family and forces her to transfer schools, she's faced with the golden opportunity to present herself anew. How, exactly? Through the magic of makeup.
If the love triangle between Lee Su Ho (Cha Eun Woo) and Han Seojun (Hwang In Yeop) might sate romance fans, beauty enthusiasts have Ju Kyung's extensive makeup collection to cast their gaze over. One highlight might just be our female lead's lip tint, which actually kickstarts her makeup journey.
In the drama's first episode, a determined Ju Kyung heads to several beauty shops with a one-girl makeover mission. In one scene, the high schooler tries out a red-toned lip tint, which transports her to a make-believe fantasy with a fictional beauty YouTuber.
But just like the real deal, it took a few tries before she hit the jackpot with a routine that brought out her features. Her lip tint of choice, however, remained the same for the rest of the episodes.
The tint once again made a prominent cameo in the show's seventh episode, when Ju Kyung playfully applied it on Seojun's lips while on a trip to a store.
Like many of the contents in Ju Kyung's makeup kit, the lip tint in question is courtesy of K-beauty favorite Colorgram. Aside from its glossy coat and dewy effects, the Thunderbolt Tint Laquer's deep red tint also moisturizes for a smoother pucker, whether in dramas or in reality.
