Seeing familiar faces in K-dramas is a common occurrence, but that doesn’t stop us from doing double takes for actors that tug at our *nostalgia.* Take Kang Min Hyuk for example–the latest lead of Netflix’s Celebrity–who just happens to also star in the classic drama The Heirs.
In the new Netflix original thriller, Park Gyu Young’s Seo Ah-ri navigates the tumultuous scene of social media influencers and its less-documented “uglier” side. Alongside her is Kang Min Hyuk’s Han Jun-kyung, a CEO of a cosmetics company and a third-generation conglomerate son.
While all eyes are on his latest character, Min Hyuk has long been under the spotlight since his screen acting debut in 2010. One of his most notable characters, however, might just be Yoon Chan-young from the 2013 classic The Heirs.
In the Lee Min Ho- and Park Shin Hye-led drama, Min Hyuk portrays Chan-young, the childhood best friend of Shin Hye’s Eun-sang. Depicted as a warm-hearted brainiac, Chan-young is the class president who seems immune to the school’s social status prejudices due to his batch stature.
In The Heirs, Chan-young is paired with Krystal Jung’s Lee Bo-na, the daughter of an entertainment company who initially dislikes Eun-sang for her friendly relationship with her boyfriend. But as anyone who watched the drama knows, Bo-na will warm up to her eventually.
Aside from being an actor, Min Hyuk also holds a diverse set of talents, as he’s also a singer-songwriter and a drummer for the South Korean rock band CNBLUE. Isn't that cool?
Celebrity is streaming on Netflix.
