When Kat of K-Style took me to the Netflix Christmas party this year, I met some K-content creators, and one of them was Gia Allana. She caught the eye of so many K-drama fans like me because her outfit was inspired by Little Women's Oh In Joo—from the blush puff sleeve dress to a white version of the limited edition "Bruno Zumino" high heels. It got me wishing I had 70 billion won so I can snag a pair of the real-life counterpart Jimmy Choo shoes. Maybe I'd also buy several of the outfits that those gorgeous K-drama leads wear.
While that wish may not come true soon for most of us, nobody says we can't channel a K-drama heroine within our means every once in a while. We can definitely take inspiration from their looks and ~*sleigh*~ the holidays our way.
If you've got a special Christmas party coming up, here are some K-drama outfits you can recreate:
1. (Sporty) Tulle princess look by Oh In Joo (Kim Go Eun)
Aside from a rose-colored wrap dress, In Joo was seen in several other stylish outfits, especially when she started working in Won Sang Ah's household and getting some cash. One of them was this lovely tulle dress she bought herself on her birthday. We definitely agree that we all deserve to look and feel special on our birthdays—and other special occasions! You can wear a similar dress as is for swanky parties or dress it down in an eccentric way like her with a baseball cap and a sports jacket.
2. Classy yellow dress by Won Sang Ah (Uhm Ji Won)
From the middle until the end of the series, we loathed her, but you can't deny that her outfits were quite stylish! Fitting for an actress and heiress, definitely. Try finding an iconic dress like this and get ready to take the spotlight.
3. A very Gucci Christmas look by Yoon Hye Jin (Shin Min Ah)
Speaking of classy, you'll see a lot of Yoon Hye Jin outfits that fit the bill when you watch Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. For Christmas, why not go with festive colors? If you can't buy the exact Gucci dress (which costs about P147,000, by the way), recreate it with a green bell-sleeved top, matching pleated skirt, and a red pussy bow.
4. Printed flowy dress by Jang Man Wol (IU)
No better way to look *expensive* than to emulate the Hotel Del Luna CEO herself. Pair a dress like this with a cold, snobbish expression and no one will suspect you secretly want to win the Christmas party raffle.
5. A white Christmas look by Ko Mun Yeong (Seo Ye Ji)
If you're not a fan of bold colors or prints, it's okay. Find outfits with festive details like ruffles instead. Take it from this (insanely expensive) It's Okay Not To Be Okay outfit. Be sure to complete the look with some ice on your wrists, ears, finger… you get the idea! As an alternative, get inspired by this other (lace) white ruffle dress in another scene.
6. Flowy ruffle dress by Shim Soo Ryun (Lee Ji Ah)
This The Penthouse look would be perfect for office Christmas parties where it's not quite black-tie but you want to get all dressed up anyway. If you want to follow her style cues, just keep your accessories to a minimum. Let the sweet color, intricate ruffles, and stylish mock neck do the talking.
7. Denim-on-denim look by Joo Seok Kyung (Han Ji Hyun)
Like mother, like daughter! If you're going for an edgier look, try this Y2K-trendy outfit you can easily put together. Either find a similar dress or pair a denim jacket with a skirt of the same material. Finish with a statement belt. Another option: Throw on a corset or crop top over a long-sleeved top and don't forget the trademark glare!
8. Knit sweater and sneakers combo by Yoo Jenny (Jin Ji Hee)
She's one of the characters that always looked sweet among the bunch. You can easily cop this look if you have a pastel-colored knit sweater, jeans, and sneakers. Her character also wore a lot of pretty dresses like this and this, which you can use as inspiration for more formal events.
9. Yellow checkered co-ords by Shin Ha Ri (Kim Sejeong)
The plaid poncho look from Business Proposal is probably more familiar, but who wears winter garments in this climate? If you're looking for a Ha Ri outfit that's more wearable for casual parties in the tropical weather, check out this preppy and peppy outfit.
10. Casual yet chic in stripes by Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin)
If you're going to a high school or college barkada get-together and it's just a chill hangout, copy this Crash Landing On You look. You might already have the essentials in your closet: a blue-striped button-down and fitted denim pants. Of course, you can be more ~extra~ and recreate Se Ri's other outfits like the cinched tweed set and her elegant floral dress.
11. Glitter dress by Yumi (Bae Suzy)
In the poster of the web series called Anna, you'll see the beautiful actress showing some skin in a gold sequined dress. In another teaser poster, you'll see that she wears it with black heels with red soles. It's the perfect combination for a head-turning, “Star of the Night” formal party look! If you want a more toned-down Suzy look, consider her Vagabond black dress from the pilot and finale. (We're still waiting for the sequel, Suzy.)
12. Slick suit by Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Been)
If you hate wearing dresses, why not attend a formal event in a fitted suit instead? Find a black one like in the Vincenzo poster. Or, browse through the episode and pick one of her other sexy suits.
13. Runway-ready outfits by Pyo Ji Eun (Chae Soo Bin) and the models in The Fabulous
Showing on December 23 on Netflix, this series is expected to show a lot of stylish looks. I mean, just watch the trailer and look at the stills. So, if you want to make a statement and receive tons of compliments during your big party this year, take a page from this new drama and channel your inner high-fashion "marketer" or model.
14. LBD by Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo)
Snapshots and teaser videos of The Glory don't show a lot of glam from the heroine, but if we were to guess, we'd bet Dong Eun has *the* Song Hye Kyo-in-a-black-dress-and-diamonds vibe. If you're feeling stuck on what to wear to the party, the foolproof choice would always be an LBD.
Cheers to your upcoming parties this year! And good luck on winning those raffle prizes and special awards.
