News alert: We're in for another treat from Netflix. It's filled with thrilling scenes, heartbreaking stories, and...monsters. The second season of the action-packed sci-fi Netflix original series Sweet Home will soon be available for binge-watching!
Of course, we're here to give you all the details about its newest season. But before that, here's a quick recap:
What was the plot of Sweet Home season 1?
The first season of Sweet Home revolved around the stories of Green Home Mansion tenants, who were forced to survive together after a mysterious disease tormented the whole apartment. The disease had been turning humans into monsters and the cause of it is yet to be discovered. Together, the tenants fought against the monsters who were trying to kill each and every one of them.
However, one of their co-tenants Cha Hyun Su (portrayed by Song Kang) appeared to be a "special infectee." He can be both human and a monster whenever he needs to be, plus he has regenerative abilities. Season 1 ended with Hyun Su surrendering and getting himself captured by another (yet new) character portrayed by Lee Jin Wook, while the other tenants escaped the apartment.

Everything We Know About Netflix's Sweet Home season 2:
1. There are new characters to look forward to in Sweet Home season 2.
ICYDK, the lead cast for Sweet Home Season 1 included Song Kang, Lee Jin Wook, Lee Si Young, Park Gyu Young, Go Min Si, and Lee Do Hyun. Season 2 brings fresh yet familiar faces into the scene. Oh Jung Se, Yoo Oh Seong, Jinyoung, and Kim Moo Yeol are among the big names who have joined the cast.
(Trivia: Despite Lee Do Hyun exiting the show, Min Si reveals that fans will still see Do Hyun in numerous flashbacks during the second season.)

2. Don't be confused by the Sweet Home timeline!
Sweet Home Season 2 is set three years after their escape from the apartment. So we'll probably see Lee Eun Yu (played by Min Si) stronger and bolder after the death of her brother, Seo Yi Kyung (Si Young) as a mother, and of course, Hyun Su (Kang) as a special infectee in a barren world where monsters and humans co-exist.

3. There's so much that's different now, yet at it's core Sweet Home still feels the same.
Kang, Min Si, and Gyu Young's characters are reportedly leading the second season with so much growth and presence. TBH, as a Sweet Home fan, we're not expecting them to be all together again just like in the first season. The three would probably be fighting monsters in different locations—but everyone's certainly wishing that they'd reunite in Season 2!

Aside from their characters' growth, the cast has already teased us enough about how good the visual graphics and effects (VFX) will be. NGL, the first season's VFX was already impressive. What more can we expect in the next season where there are more monsters to defeat? We can't wait to see it!

Season 1 also focuses on how the characters tried to escape the apartment with the hopes of finding refuge in the outside world. However, they find nothing but chaos after their escape. So in Season 2, the idea of finding a cure for the unknown disease—or curse as they say in the series—emerges. That, and we're sure to see humans struggling to survive as they turn against each other.
Here's a really compelling inside look at Sweet Home 2:
4. We're curious about Song Kang and Lee Jin Wook's intense brotherhood.
Compared to Season 1, Kang and Jin Wook appear to have more scenes together and more monsters to fight against in the next season. We don't know yet if it's a brotherhood for good, or if it's something we all should fear. What we surely know is that no matter what, these two are serving looks!

5. Sweet Home has THREE seasons!
You read that right—Sweet Home will have a third season. It will be available in the first quarter of 2024, and Netflix announced the good news last June 2022. Song Kang revealed in an interview that they filmed both seasons back-to-back for 13 months, starting from February 2022 up until March 2023.
Another fun fact: Jin Wook shared in an interview that viewers should watch out for the scene where Kang maximizes all his strength as Hyun Su in the show—and it interestingly includes "the lower part of his body."
