Writer and *rom-com queen* Park Ji Eun created this masterpiece. Her popular works include 2013's My Love From The Star, 2015's The Producers, 2016's The Legend Of The Blue Sea, and 2019's Crash Landing On You.
Queen Of Tears marks the third collaboration between Kim Soo Hyun and Ji Eun, after My Love From The Star and The Producers—or their fourth, if you count his cameo in Crash Landing On You!
What You Need To Know About Queen Of Tears
Queen of Tears follows a married couple navigating a tense relationship full of ups and downs. Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) is the seemingly cold third generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and the current CEO of Queens Department Store. [Fun fact: In CLOY, Se Ri's father's company was also named Queens Group!]
Meanwhile, her husband Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun) is a kindhearted farmer's son from the rural area of Yongdu-ri. He worked his way up to become the legal director of Queens Group after graduating as a laywer from Seoul National University.
In one of the drama's teasers, it's revealed that Soo Hyun's character will be asking for a divorce—how did their three years of marriage lead to this burnt out romance, and will they be able to rediscover their love for each other?

Queen of Tears K-Drama Viewership Ratings And Popularity
According to Nielsen Korea, viewership ratings for Queen Of Tears have been on a pretty steady increase since the series premiered on March 9. In fact, after episode 10 aired on April 7, the K-drama's nationwide average rating reached 19.0%, which led it to surpass Reply 1988 and achieve the third-highest ratings of any tvN drama to date.

Queen Of Tears managed to break the 20 percent mark when episode 12 aired on April 14. Specifically, with an average nationwide rating of 20.7%, it marked a new all-time high for the show. It also surpassed Goblin to become the drama with the second-highest ratings in tvN history, only beaten at the time by Crash Landing On You.

Fun fact: The CLOY finale earned a record-breaking nationwide average of 21.7% for its series finale back in February 2020, overtaking the previous record holder—Goblin, whose finale achieved a peak rating of 20.5% back in January 2017.
When episode 16 aired on April 28, the Queen Of Tears series finale scored an average nationwide rating of 24.9%, which set a new record for the highest viewership ratings of any drama in tvN history. It actually performed better in Seoul, with a 28.4% average audience share!
